Chapter Eleven: Kai and Diego

The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife, the men staring each other down as they all took a seat. I sat next to the two boys who looked similar and then Mig sitting next to me after he put me down in a seat. I pulled my jacket over my shoulders and watched the men look at each other.

"Hi, I'm Atom." I say waving, giving off very happy energy. "I'm Toshi, yours and these three boys' father." The Japanese man said, glancing at the boys.

"Aight paperwork?" I ask. Toshi slides a file across the table to me and nods. I open the file and start reading everything.

"Blah blah blah, DNA test results.... Hold the fuck up, what's aunt summer have to do with this?. Never mind saving that for later... This is why I shouldn't just skim through shit..... Blah blah blah.... Ooh cute cat....." My inner monologue says as I read the file.

I hum and suck in my lips. "What?" Toshi asks. "Nothing." I say sarcastically. "Atom please control yourself." Marco said, taking a deep breath. "Yes grandpa." I respond to him in a sickeningly happy voice that makes my inner monologue cringe, gag, and die all at the same time. He responds with a glare then goes back to looking at the other men in front of us.

"I would like to talk to my lawyer." I say folding my hands in front of me after closing the file. "You don't have a lawyer." Marco says. "Well they didn't know that?!" I replied irritated. "If you're gonna talk please talk normal." Marco says rubbing his temples. "We'll see." I say back.

"Wait, so we're all triplets?" The two boys and I say in sync. "Yes." A few of the adults say. We all pause then look at each other for a second. "Cool." We say in sync, nodding our heads in approval.

"I want to take my daughter and have her live with me." Toshi said in a very serious tone. "Nah, cause you iz a stranger and I got trust issues, I just started warming up to this ass over here." I say pointing to my grandfather.

"I mean I read all your files and stuff and did some research online, so I do know you but I want to try and warm up to you more and I want you to know me. I guess that's what I'm trying to say." I say, cutting off my grandfather before he can speak.

"Atom I already know about you." My 'father' says. "Oh really, you know that I skipped two years of school? You know that I almost have an anxiety attack if I have to order stuff at a drive through but I'm not afraid to kill a bitch? You know that I don't have a favorite color because there are over ten decillion colors and some of them I will never see and because I'm super indecisive? You know that I have three plus kills so technically I'm a serial killer?" I asked him as I was getting irritated.

We make eye contact as I can feel my aura grow around me as a protective barrier but also to give off intimidation. "You might know me, but you don't know me. The only person that really knows me is hidden away and I fear when they come out, because the real me isn't pretty." I say getting even more frustrated.

Toshi takes a deep breath and looks at me. "I understand." He said, trying to be nice using a sickeningly sweet tone that made me mad. "I want to get to know you, and so does your family-.". "My family is dead!" I cut him off. "They weren't that amazing; they were just people trying to figure it out as they went just like everyone else, but they raised me, they helped me become who I am. Ya I know it's Yui's fault that I didn't get to live with you or be raised by you, but she also saved me. I honestly wouldn't have cared either way if I was dead or not, and looking at your track record could you really save me if they tried to kill me?!" I yell back at him, I can feel my body heating up as I get overwhelmed.

"I can handle myself. At least 3 people or gangs have tried killing me this week. I'm currently a burden, so after I heal we can discuss talking about me living with you. But only after I can fully take care of myself." I say taking deep breaths trying to calm myself. "Ok." Toshi said understanding.
