Marco was in his office mentally worrying about some news that Toshi had informed him on. Marco knew that what Toshi was wanting to make Atom go through something Marco would never make anyone go through nor was it something he approved of.
Marco was a bad guy, at least deemed by society, but he wasn't evil. Sure he had killed people and he ran a nationwide drug cartel, but Marco believed everyone should have the freedom of choice just not when it comes to legalizing drugs because then his sales go down.
"Miguel." Marco said calmly, his thick Italian accent traveled across the room and into Miggy's ear canal and into his eardrums. "Sí?" Miggy asked as he stood at the window looking out at the garden Atom had planted not long ago.
"I need you to go handle a... What's the word... Problema- problem, later tonight." Marco said as he was signing some paperwork. Ah one of the downsides of being bilingual; forgetting words in more than one language.
"Yes sir." Miggy said in a monotone, the beautiful garden that was dead a few months ago was now beautiful and full of plants despite the cold weather soon to come from Atom taking care of the small plant lifes. "So good news!" Atom burst into Marcos office before anyone could even blink. Immediately guns were drawn which didn't stop the girl from calmly walking to her grandfather's desk.
"Atom, per favore stai più attento." Marco says in his first language as he puts his gun back and signals for everyone to stand down. (Translation from Italian: "Atom, please be more careful.")
"Sorry Nonno." Atom apologized. "Anyways what's the good news bambina?" Marco asked as he picked up another pile of paperwork. (Translation from Italian: "...child."). "I have a girl who could be a valuable asset to my team." Atom sang as she paced back and forth in his office.
"What's her background?" Marco asked his granddaughter. "Her dads a business man but she usually lives with her mom." Atom stopped and clapped her hands together while she lined her lips before she said that. "So a normal civilian?" Marco looked up at Atom before returning to signing a paper and moving it to a pile beside him..
"Yes but no." Atom sat down in one of the plush chairs and crossed her legs. "Explain bambina." Marco said while he continued to read another packet of paperwork. "So she's got my level of intelligence but waaaay less motivation-which is kinda concerning-also she predicted a drug deal in plain sight which I found high-key entertaining, Oh and her and have the same birthday which is cool but also not that special considering I'm a triplet but Kai though it was cool while Diego as normaldidnt give a fuck." Atom started talking and then finally took a deep breath when she was done talking.
"What's her name?" He asked patiently. "Lilly Richardson." The girl smiled. "This isn't the daughter of Jeffery Richardson the billionaire businessman by chance is it?" Marco asked skeptically. "Oh no that's exactly who I'm talking about." Atom shrugged as a response. "Shes gonna start going into real estate on top of her fathers business." Atom grabbed a chocolate candy out of the small candy bowl on Marcos desk.
"And you just forgot to mention that?" Marco questioned. "I keep forgetting she's the heir of a huge company, kinda like how I keep forgetting I'm the heir to a Mafia that reins over roughly sixty percent of Los Angeles and I'll become a huge Mafia boss sometime in the next forty years." Atom yawns. "You're so much like your mom sometimes." Marco shakes his head with a smile.
"From what I've heard that's a good thing, but then again there's a saying about not talking ill about the deceased but it is what it is." Atom shrugged and then walked out of Marcos office. "She sure is something." Angelo chuckled. "Let's just hope that spark never dies out." He added with a small smile. "We can only hope and see. But we both know she's gonna go back to being either stone cold or just pissed off at everything." One of Marcos soldiers shook his head with a smile.
"Well from what I heard I know Atom will react one of three ways when she hears the news that Toshi gave me." Marco sighed as he stood up and walked over to his cabinet file. "What news?" Miggy asked, his gut told him that this wasn't something he was gonna like.
"Toshi has a meeting set up for Atom and a few other people..." Marco started. "... Toshi wants Atom to have an arranged marriage with another gang so they can combine them." Marco ran his hands through his slicked back-silky black hair.
In that instant Miggy felt his heart shatter. Miggy knew he loved Atom, Ironically the first time she said that she hated him he developed a soft spot for her. Migeul knew that the shattered girl had tried to fix herself, she joked around saying a metaphor of she wasn't broken she was shattered she could never return back to the state she was before the storm so instead of trying to be the way she use to be she instead changed and turned herself into mosaic tiles.
Miggy knew this wasn't a joke, Atom was self aware enough to know it wasn't actually a joke but jokes were the only healthy coping mechanism she had developed over the past. Atom needed help and wanted to be fixed. She just didnt know how and the lifestyle she's now living isn't helping her mental health.
Atom had always been mentally stronger and more mature than kids her age and she was pushed farther and farther until she eventually burnt out but luckily she regained her motivation about two years ago. Miggy saw through Atom's hard exterior he knew he'd seen sides of her nobody else knew of. The heartless, cold, and stubborn girl that he had met around five months ago who had grown so much.
He had fallen in love with.
