I opened the large door to the livingroom and the room instantly got quiet as all eyes and attention were silently directed onto me. Miggy grabbed my hand and squeezed it as a silent 'It's alright I'm right here and I won't let them hurt you.'.I noticed a Japanese couple on the other side of the room who I can only assume are Toshi's parents sitting on one of the navy couches. They stood up from their spot and walked towards me with bright friendly smiles.
"こんにちは." I bowed. "こんにちは." They said and bowed in union. (こんにちは pronounced Kon'nichiwa. Translation from Japanese: Hello.)
"Such a polite young girl." The man commented. "ありがとう." I smiled. (ありがとう pronounced Arigatō. Translation from Japanese: Thank you.)
"Since when do you speak Japanese?" Toshi asked. "..... I've just picked up on a few words because of watching anime." I shrug. "So we just never gonna tell him?" Alex asks. "Maybe eventually but not anytime soon." I internally reply to Alex. "Mmmhmmm surreee." Isaac said, making me roll my eyes.
"I'm your grandfather Kanjiharu." The elderly Japanese man said in a thick Japanese accent. He was tall, shorter than Nonno but the man was about 177cm/5'10ish, had dark black hair and almost black eyes with black glasses that framed them and wore a brown suit jacket with a white button up and black dress pants.
Anyone who gave him a first glance would think of him as a kind and gentle old man and you would never know or even suspect how powerful and cruel he really was or what his position is in the Yakuza/underworld.
"I'm your grandmother Yui." The short elderly Japanese woman said. She was wearing a purple and dark blue kimono and her black hair was in a traditional Japanese bun with a cute flower kanzashi.
"I'm-" I started saying to introduce myself before getting cut off. "Atom, our granddaughter. Yes we know." They smiled warmly. Every vibe they gave off was so kind and welcoming and it freaked me out knowing how cruel and horrible they truly were also knowing they were trying to kill me.
"You have no idea how long we waited to meet you!" The old couple said, then started hugging me. "What do I do?" I mouthed to my brothers. They all shrugged as I just kinda stood there. "Ya mean a couple months?" I asked.
"Your father told us about you as soon as he learned about you." Kanjiharu said. I hummed as a response then looked to Miggy for help. He narrowed his eyebrows confused as well started having a silent conversation.
"And who are you?" Yui asked sweetly, looking at Miggy. He and I stopped and I stepped to the side and waved my hand as a silent 'Go on and talk because if I have to suffer so do you.'.
"Maneul, but everyone calls me Miggy and I'm Atom's best friend." He said keeping a neutral expression. "Well hello Miggy. Are you just saying that because you're Atom's boyfriend and trying to keep her from getting in trouble?" Yui asked with a giggle.
Miggy and I both choked on nothing and started coughing from how blunt she was. I took a deep breath and finally got the oxygen I needed to speak. "No, we're just friends." I say bluntly. "Best friends." Miggy adds.
"So nothing has ever happened?" Yui asks. "Not that anyone can prove." I sneer. "Atom." Toshi said in a warning tone. "Sorry mom, she's a very personal person and she doesn't tell me anything either..." Toshi apologized then glared at me.
"Well I understand that." Yui laughed. I just nodded my head. This place was so uncomfortable with them here. The air felt thick as it was trying to suffocate me. The fake persona Toshi's parents kept that only I and Miggy could see and knowing I was in the same room as the people who killed some of the most important people who could have been in my life and who's trying to take my life was in the same room was horrible.
I walked over to Kai and Diego and grabbed their wrist giving them a pleading look that only they could see. They both nodded and we walked to my bay window.
"Atom, boys. Come sit on the couch." Toshi said. "We haven't seen each other in a few days. Can we sit in the window please dad?" Kai asked. "Ok." Toshi sighed.
Diego sat on my left, Kai on my right, while I sat in Miggy's lap with his arms wrapped around me as I was trying to feel as protected as I could and hoping I'd get some form of oxytocin to brighten my mood. I knew I couldn't pick a fight with them because it wouldn't go well if it was me but I couldn't help being in a bad mood.
"So Atom, how was your time at Marcos?" Toshi asked. "It was good. We finally got rid of Lyla but I know that's gonna be a whole thing with her family." I said, feeling Miggy's arms tighten around me slightly at the mention of the girl's name.
"Well I'm glad you had a good time." He smiled. "Oh ya. Atom, remember that hoodie I let you borrow of mine?" Daichi asked. "Ya?" I questioned.
"Ya, well I don't know what you did to it but it smells like you." Daichi glared at me. "You're fucking welcome... I don't understand why you're complaining." I replied.
"I hate you." He replied. "You could move out. You're Eighteen." I replied. "Atom." Toshi said in a warning tone. "I don't understand why you're getting your panties in a bunch you didn't even raise me.." I told my father.
"Anyways Riku." Kanjiharu interrupted us. "Yes?" Riku asked. "We found your birth parents." The old man said.
