Axel
"Explain to me why I just spent an hour being lectured by your dad about having a threesome!!" Brianna is less happy than she was before. The plan did backfire I admit. But on the bright side, everyone still thinks we're straight.
"Because he looks precious when's coming up with dumb ideas?" Phoenix says, weakly.
"Okay—so in theory since everyone is all fired up about you not dating people or whatever, shouldn't him finding us all three in a closet partially disrobed made him want to send you away from us?" I ask, innocently.
"Yeah, except you didn't take into account that everyone in this fucking town is at least partially insane!!!" Brianna growls, "Now I'm in this goddamn high school where there's a murder every single hour and people explode."
"That happened once, and we don't even know why, to be fair. It's been pretty quiet," I say, as we go to my locker. Phoenix and I share it so we can talk and hug in between classes.
"I just want to go to sleep," Brianna says, leaning against the lockers. She doesn't have one. No one signed her up for school. She just came.
"You know if we start hitting each other we'll get ISS and you can sleep," Phoenix says.
"No," She says, flatly, "I am no longer accepting ideas from either of you."
"Axel, why weren't you answering your phone? Doesn't matter, Erin's dead, we think we know who killed her, and we need a distraction," Luna says, walking up us followed by Nym, Diana, and two little brothers of hers, neither of whom go to our high school. "Oh, hi Bri, didn't know you were back in town."
"Hi," Brianna says, flatly, not happy to be back in town.
"What?" Phoenix says, "Erin's dead??"
"She got hit on the way in to school yesterday---I found the car that did it, it belonged to the Walls. I need to interrogate them," she says, pulling metal wire from her pocket. "This is my new little brother Gale, can you guys and he create a decent distraction while we extract information?"
"You got it," I say.
"Just keep police away from the girl's second floor bathroom, I don't care how," Luna says, smacking my shoulder.
"Can do," I say, starting to stretch. I love nothing more than a good fight. And this is for a good cause. I can get away with breaking some bones.
"Of course we're in," Phoenix says, "Where's Sol?"
"Off world, he's no help right now. The girls and I can do the interrogation, the rest of my Hunters and Isa and Gale can help you with the distraction."
"To be clear, if a school wide riot were occurring do you think the police would be sufficiently distracted?" I ask, raising my eyebrows.
"Definitely, knew I could count on you," Luna says, giving me finger guns.
"Oh my god please stop him from starting a school wide riot---you're literally the only person he listens to," Brianna says to Phoenix.
"But look at his little face! It makes him really happy!" Phoenix says.
"We are finding out who killed Erin, and they're being torn apart by wolves," Luna says, practically.
"I hope that's a metaphor. This fucking town," Brianna puts her head in her hands.
"You can just watch," Phoenix tells her, "You might want to stay out of the way though--- do you want a boost on top of the lockers?"
"No, not at all. I want to pretend I don't know any of you."
"Reasonable," I say, shrugging, "Don't go near Mr. Menon though, I'm gonna kick him and act like I was aiming for somebody else."
"I'm really asking you to stop him from doing this," Brianna says, "You could distract people other ways—"
"Like what?" I can't think of a better way.
"Set off a fire alarm??? Like a lot of things—"
"Nah, I like my way, we're doing it," I say.
"Cool, five minutes," Luna says, high fiving me and Phoenix, "Isa, block the doors."
"How---is he gonna do that?" Brianna asks. Isa wears extensive leg braces.
"Gale, this is a friend of mine. His name is Axel. You and he are gonna hit people okay?" Luna asks the other little boy. I don't think I've seen him before. He's surprisingly neat looking, in a pink button up shirt, khakis, and running shoes. He glares at everyone generally, but nods at his sister.
"Cool, let's do this," Luna says.
"She's not gonna explain more is she? Is she actually gonna kill someone?" Brianna asks, concerned.
"Potentially," I say, leaning on Phoenix to stretch
"You sure you don't want that boost onto the lockers? I think you should take me up on it it's better to guarantee your safety," Phoenix says, stretching too.
"No. I'm completely sure I don't want to touch either of you for a really long time pretending to have a threesome in your closet was gross," Brianna says, glaring at us.
"Suit yourself, you might want to---hide though," Phoenix says.
"What you think--- you're going to riot in every single room in this building?"
"Yes??? Why wouldn't I given the opportunity?? I have always wanted to! In fact I often think about it!"
"Please stop him!"
"Look at him," Phoenix says, "Look at how sweet he looks-- it makes him really happy? How can you ask me to make this precious angel sad?"
"Useless fucking gays."
