In the novel Thyme mentions a lot of different sexual orientations without a lot of context. So, in case you were curious here's a brief explanation.

That said, some people have varying definitions for what the orientation means to them and that's okay! This is just how it is typically defined.

For the record, Cis-gender means the individual was identified as that gender at birth, as opposed to transgender when they were assigned a different gender at birth.

Genderfluid refers to an individual whose gender identity changes. Darius sometimes requests to be referred to using female pronouns and sometimes male (which they were assigned at birth). As they are a small child, Darius' parents are simply respecting their wishes to be referred to how they see fit.

Bisexual-sexually attracted to two or more genders.

Pansexual-attracted to individuals regardless of gender.

Omnisexual-attracted to all genders.

These three are rather close and confusing, the main distinction is that bisexual usually refers to just two or three genders or orientations (e.g. cis men and trans men, but not any women, and so on). It doesn't necessarily mean that, a bisexual individual could be open to all genders! Pansexual typically is used to refer to being attracted to personalities/individuals, and gender identity doesn't matter. Omnisexual is typically used to mean the individual is attracted to everyone, period.

Basically, Pan means 'any', omni means 'all' and bi means 'some'.

Thyme defines Basil as being Omnisexual because, as we see, Basil clearly is sexually attracted to anyone.

Luke is married to a transman, but defines himself as bisexual (apparently, since that's what Thyme though).

Dean is pansexual, he is open to relationships with anyone, regardless of gender-identity.

Asexual (ace) means no sexual attraction.

Grey Asexual means occasional sexual attraction.

Demi-Asexual means sexual attraction can occur but only once a relationship is formed.

Asexual does not mean opposed to sex, or sex repulsed. It simply means no attraction occurs. Think of it like eating, but with no sense of smell or taste. You might not mind eating, you might enjoy feeling full or certain textures of food, but you don't feel drawn to food. Make sense?

Detective Stamos states in the second book he is asexual and therefore not concerned about Dean's Rave affecting him because he doesn't feel sexual desire to begin with. This doesn't mean he has never had sex, or does not feel romantic attraction.

Hector apparently told Thyme that he was demi-asexual (probably when Thyme was figuring out he was just straight).

Polyamorous means having multiple romantic relationships consensually. We see Basil having a long term relationship with Lisa and Gerard. This is a polyamorous relationship. Dean is said to have had a relationship with Anna and Ariadne.

Tacking romantic on to the end of any sexuality explains romantic attraction (typically for asexual individuals)

Hetero-romantic means attracted to the opposite gender.

bi-romantic attracted to two or more genders.

pan-romantic attracted to certain individuals regardless of gender.

omni-romantic attracted  to all genders.

aromantic-no romantic attraction.

An individual can be aromantic, but not asexual, that is they feel sexual attraction but not any romantic desires. Of course someone can be both too.
