"Don't get up," Anna says, upon seeing me on the sofa underneath the twins. It's excellent because I can't necessarily get up. My legs have felt numb and tingly all afternoon.

"Come over here then," I say, shifting Jupe so that Anna can crawl into my arms. I toss the controller onto the table, pausing the game.

"I will," she says, kicking her shoes off before getting her baby out of its car seat.

"Took you long enough," I say, tugging her down by her shirt for a kiss.

"Baby, you're burning up," she says, putting a hand on my face.

"I'm completely fine," I lie, "I wanted to see you before I headed out. Did you find your mom?"

"No, I didn't try---I quit trying. I wanted to come home," she says, curling up under my arm and putting her head on my shoulder. The baby girl sleeps peacefully in her arms, stirring only a bit at my unfamiliar voice.

"Good, we like you home---I'm sorry you couldn't find her though. I didn't have a good mom, but I know yours meant a lot to you," I say, hugging her a bit and putting my face on her cool one.  She smells nice like soap like she cleaned up before coming. The baby smells like baby soap as well which is nice.

"You guys mean more," she says.

"This little one have a name yet?" I ask, stroking the little girl's cheek.

"No. Did you meet her when you picked up the boys?" Anna asks, frowning.

"A little, I was busy getting out of Dean where you were he was choking and looking like he was going to faint. Maybe that was because I pushed him the pool, although he should be used to that by now," I admit.

"Poor Dean," she says, snuggling up against me closer.

"He said that the baby is his---is she? Because he said it like it wasn't true."

"No, he and Luke made that up because Luke thought you would be mad if you knew I'd been with him."

"Ah that makes more sense," my uncle Luke is stronger than I am, but he's also afraid of getting his ass kicked and independent of the consequences I'm fine with giving a good ass kicking to my uncle.

"Are you mad?"

"No, I'm not," that's why she's been so depressed though my uncle Luke is a prick. Dean is like our dad he sleeps with anyone, no hard feelings. I'm sure Luke went back to his husband by now and could care less about the kid. "Why would I be mad?

"I don't know," she mumbles like she does when she's upset.

"How about---I go to the nearest bar, start a really big fight, then come back and make love to you until the kids wake up?" I ask, kissing her lips.

"Can we skip the part where you get in a fight?"

"Probably not, I can't necessarily stand," I say, closing my eyes.

"Shit---you shouldn't be here—I'm sorry this is why I didn't ask you to come home—,"

"Hey—hey, I'm fine. I protect you, I am fine, let me be strong," I say, stopping her from getting up. "I wanted to see you, and the boys. And now this one. You ought to name her though, something pretty. She's pretty like you."

"Yeah I will---I legitimately hadn't thought about it. I was really sick when I was pregnant, not like the twins—I was down," she says.

"You're feeling better though?"

"Yeah, I'm starting, okay go start a fight, gorgeous," she says, kissing me.

The front door is kicked in which is very dramatic because it wasn't locked. I pick up a twenty two, cocking it, even though I know damn well who it is.
