"What's wrong, Adeline. Why are you so sad?" Gabby asked, it was summer.

"The Tri-wizard tournament went wrong at the end..." Adeline explained. "Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Harry won! But.. C-Cedric died.."

"Oh my!" Gabby gasped. "Is it safe to go back?"

"Yes." Adeline lied. "But I can't believe it.."

***

"Mum.." Adeline asks.

"What?"

"Please. Tell me about my father. I know nothing." Adeline begs.

"No. Go to your room." Gabby shouts.

"What- No! I just asked a question..!" Adeline protests.

"I don't want to hear of it." Gabby folds a shirt. "Go upstairs, go to sleep."

Adeline ran upstairs, in tears. She just wanted to know about her past. She sunk her head into her pillow, fell asleep eventually.

***

"Adeline. Come get breakfast, I'm going to the shops." Gabby called.

"Alright. When will you be back?" Adeline ran downstairs.

"Few hours. Behave!" Gabby grabbed her keys and shut the door behind her.

Adeline grabbed a small bowl of cereal and ate it quickly.

She went upstairs to get dressed.

"I wonder why mum never tells me about dad.." Adeline thought to herself.

"Maybe he's in pictures from when I was younger."

Adeline ran into her mum's room and looked through an old box of photos.

Nothing.

She was such a weird baby..

Adeline looked at the pictures from when she was three.

She could've sworn she saw them somewhere before.

Her hair was lighter, then, a light brown colour.

She took some of her baby photos and placed them in her room.

Her mother would be arriving home in abut ten minutes.

Adeline went downstairs, and saw the newspaper article about the missing child.

She looked at the photo.

Her baby photos were identical to the child that went missing.

Adeline stood in horror, realising what this meant.

***

"I'm back!" Gabby shouted, opening the front door.

Adeline stood, shaking.

"My whole life is a lie, isn't it." Adeline says.

"W-what?" Gabby said nervously.

"I'm the child that went missing, aren't I?" Adeline asked.

"Uh, no." Gabby scratched her head.

"Yes, I am. You've lied to me all my life!" Adeline's eyes went glassy.

"YOU KIDNAPPED ME AS A CHILD!" Adeline shouted.

"I'm sorry." Gabby protested.

"UM- SORRY?" Adeline sobbed. "SORRY FOR HIDING MY WHOLE LIFE FROM ME, SORRY FOR PUTTING MY REAL PARENTS THROUGH PAIN, SORRY FOR KIDNAPPING ME, SORRY FOR PRETENDING TO BE MY MOTHER?"
