"Merry Christmas!" Mrs. Parkinson smiled, handing Pansy and Adeline a gift each."Thank you." Adeline untied the glittery ribbon.
"It's beautiful." Adeline took out a bracelet with a small star on it. Silver and beautiful.
"Matching bracelets. Beautiful! Just like you two." Mr. Parkinson picked the ribbon up.
"Thank you!" Pansy placed it on her wrist. "It looks silly on my wrist. My wrists are too chunky."
"Don't say that. It looks pretty on you." Adeline told her.
Pansy bit her lip. "Okay. Are you going to Draco's?"
Mrs. Parkinson stopped in her tracks. "Draco? Is there something going on between you and Draco, Adeline?"
"You didn't tell her?" Pansy gasped. "Draco is Adeline's boyfriend! Has been since fifth year."
"Adeline Parkinson! Why didn't you tell me?"
"Well, I just didn't feel the need!" Adeline shrugged. "He's not seeming interested in me anymore, anyway."
"That's not true." Pansy frowned.
"What's happened? Can I help?" Mrs. Parkinson obviously wanted to involve with her daughters' lives more..
"Well, I'm just being silly." Adeline cleared her throat. "Well, I wrote to him seven times during summer, and he didn't respond. And in school, I wrote to him once. He didn't reply again."
"Well, maybe the post got lost. Every time I've met Draco, he seems to be a kind gentleman who isn't going to disrespect someone like that." Mrs. Parkinson frowned.
"It got lost eight times?" Adeline fell back on the sofa dramatically.
"Stop being dramatic, Addy. Just go see him." Mrs. Parkinson pulled her up. "You can go tomorrow. Your father can accompany you for the journey."
"Alright- Thank you! Shall I stay? If Draco allows me.. And his family."
Mrs. Parkinson bit her lip. "As long as you don't do anything stupid."
Adeline laughed. "I'm sensible. I'm well behaved."
Pansy sniggered. "Sure. That's exactly what it seemed like with Carrow."
"Not my fault. I'm not evil, am I?"
"What's this?" Mr. Parkinson stepped in.
"Oh, Addy refused to use the Imperius curse on the first years." Pansy explained. "Got sent out of the classroom! She argued with a teacher"
Mrs. Parkinson covered her mouth. "Adeline! You shouldn't have argued!"
"But- I didn't want to do an unforgivable curse..?"
"Still. It wouldn't hurt the first years."
"Yes, but think of it like this! If I was in first year, how would you feel if you were told that the Imperius curse was used on me."
"Angry.. But that was a teacher. You need to obey them! Everyone else did as they were told!"
Adeline rolled her eyes. "I'll put my presents upstairs. Sorry."
* * *
"Father says it's time to go." Pansy knocks on Adeline's door. "Are you packed?"
"Erm, yes I am." Adeline flicked her hair behind her, she looked in the mirror. "Ughh! My hair's always got these frizzy bits in my hairrr!"
She frantically tried to push her hair back, why couldn't her hair just behave!
