It was a cold winter afternoon, Neville and Adeline were on their way to Hogsmeade.

"What's happening with Malfoy?" Neville asked Adeline. "Is he bothering you? You're spending time together."

This wasn't true. Adeline hadn't spoken to Draco since November, when he just walked off before divination.

"Uh.. No, we've not spoken recently, he's not bothering me though." Adeline assured him.

"Butterbeer?" Neville asked her.

"Yes!" Smiled Adeline.

Down in The Three Broomsticks, Adeline and Neville were sat at a big table with Hannah, Ron, Susan, Hermione.

"Can we go to Honeydukes, now?" Hannah asked.

"We have to put the cups back on the counter first." Hermione told her.

"It's alright, you guys head up. I'll put the cups back and catch up with you." Adeline told them.

"Thanks, Addy!" Ron told her.

Adeline smiled and waved them goodbye for now.

She picked up the cups and placed them on the counter, two by two.

On her way up, she passed Draco and his 'gang' of Slytherins. Pansy Parkinson, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe, Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott.

"Oh, hi Malfoy." Adeline smiled.

"Piss off." He said, rolling his eyes.

"I'm sorry, what?" Adeline stared at him. "I only said hi-"

"I don't want to associate with you. now run along to your Gryffindor friends." Draco cut her off.

"Alright then, I will.. They're nicer than you." Adeline spat.

"Draco, that was rude.. She only said hi." Theo told him.

"She got what she deserved, Mudblood." Pansy glared at Adeline.

Adeline glared back at her and walked off.

"How was Hogwarts?" Gabby asked.

"Good." Adeline replied, scratching a sticker off her Hogwarts trunk.

"Are you alright?" Gabby asked.

"Yesss, perfectly fine!" Muttered Adeline running upstairs.

How long was it going to take people to realise that being a muggle born witch isn't bad.

It was four o'clock, yet Adeline just wanted to go to sleep.

On the last day of school, Pansy had tried to get her into trouble, it didn't work. Yet it still happened.

"I'm going out to the shops, Adeline. I'll be back in two hours!" Gabby called.

"Okay! Stay safe!" Adeline called back.

Adeline decided to go downstairs and get a drink, as it was warm outside.

She flicked through the Daily Prophet, which had arrived that morning.

Ten years later,

No sign of the missing child in 1983.

Parents say that she was last seen in a big park, she was unaccompanied with no one but her sister. Older than her by five months.

Adeline closed the paper. She felt bad for the parents of the child, she knew her mother would be so sad if she went missing.

What about her dad? She never knew him? Did mum have any information of him in the house?

Adeline ran upstairs into her mum's bedroom. She opened her wardrobe.

Adeline looked through the wardrobe and checked under the boxes, nothing. What about in the dresser? Adeline pulled all the drawers out and checked thoroughly.

After an hour of searching the house, Adeline found nothing.

Surely her mother would know about him, she had pictures surely? Did he die? Did he walk out?

An hour later, Gabby came back.

"Hello!!" Gabby shouted.

"Oh hi!" Adeline said, walking downstairs. "Do you need help putting the shopping away?"

"Uh.. Yes please, put this bag of food away, please. I'll do the other." Gabby smiled.

"Ok!" Adeline put the food away.

A week later, Adeline decided it was time to ask her mother.

"Mum?" Adeline said at dinner.

"Yes, what's up?" Gabby ate her pasta.

"Well.. I was wondering if you could tell me about dad? You've never told me anything about him.." Adeline asked.

Gabby looked down.

"I mean, have you got any pictures of him? Because I look nothing like you, and I though that would be because I got my father's looks.." Adeline explained.

"Let's not talk about this subject." Gabby tells her.

"B-but? I was just wondering. I know nothing!! I'm fourteen, and I know nothing about my father. Tell me please." Adeline complains.

"ADELINE SMITH!" Gabby shouts. "DO NOT CONTINUE TALKING! BACK TO YOUR ROOM!" Gabby shouts. "DON'T COME BACK DOWN!"

"What? I just asked about something!" Adeline shouts back.

"ROOM! NOW!" Gabby yells.

"I- Alright.." Adeline complains, getting up and pushing her chair back.

What did she do wrong?

Adeline wrote to her friends, as she was bored of just sitting staring at her wall.

Night fell, and her room went dark. Adeline fell asleep.

"Mum." Adeline said.

"What?" Gabby replied.

"Um.. Well school's starting next week, I need to go to Diagon Alley to get my school stuff." Adeline told her.

"Alright, go now then." Gabby said. "Here's some money."

"Great, Thank you mum!" Adeline smiled, pulling on her coat and shoes.
