When I was younger I always dreamed of being woken up by the love of my life with a kiss on the forehead, cliche I know but I was 11 for God's sake, I didn't even know how cruel this world would be and how my life would take a 180 degrees turn.
So, when I felt something wet and slightly slimy running down the length of my face I panicked cause that definitely wasn't my drool. I jolted up, wide awake and scanned the room to find Ryan's dog nestled in the sheets next to me.
"You almost gave me a heart attack, Skittles!" I whispered as I gently petted the dog's fluffy head. Oh and judging by the name "Skittles", I bet you already know how much Ryan is obsessed with that "little bag of joy", again Ryan's words not mine. "Lilly, wake up! You're going to be late for school" Ryan's voice echoed through the thin walls of the house as I groaned throwing the duvet away from me and jumping out of the bed but as soon as my feet touched the ground I gasped as my knees buckled and I landed with a thud on the ground. I could hear the shuffling of feet before Ryan burst through the wooden door, his hair dishevelled and worry evident on his face.
"Are you okay?" he asked softly, grabbing my forearm and helping me stand up. "I'm okay, it's just the usual sore muscles." I answered taking deep breaths, trying to forget about the growing pain in my legs. "You don't have to go to school today!" Ryan called as he went to rummage for ice packs and a pain killer, it's sort of his routine.
Ryan handed me the painkiller as I gulped it down with the glass of water on his nightstand. He gently pulled my pants up. I winced as he applied pressure to the bruise on my calf muscle, weird I know.
"Why don't you have a girlfriend?" I blurted, I really need a brain to mouth filter. Ryan chuckled lowly and looked at me intensely with his steely orbs. "I have this crush on a girl but she's just too oblivious." Ryan replied briefly. "Wow! That's a shocker! The famous Ryan Anderson has a crush.
"She's a lucky girl Ryan. When do I get to meet her?" I asked excitedly, the soreness in my legs long forgotten. You see, in the two years I have known Ryan he never had a girl friend maybe the occasional flings but other than that he was never committed to one girl so, upon hearing this crucial piece of information my reaction was completely normal. She's indeed a lucky girl cause Ryan was a good guy, he knew how to treat ladies putting aside the fact that he's a player just like that pig, Nate.
Oh shut up, we both know you think he's hot! my subconscious taunted as I huffed in disapproval. Okay maybe he did look a bit nice. A bit?! You're an idiot! the snarky voice shot back. Great, I'm losing my mind.
"Maybe when she actually realises that I like her, then you two can meet!" Ryan joked as he stood up from his crouched position and went towards the door, "Breakfast's ready, come on.''
He's changing the topic, something Ryan always does when he's cornered. "Okay.." I mumbled lazily as I pushed myself off the bed, trying to keep all of my weight on the undamaged leg. The bastard I was fighting yesterday got a couple of punches on my abdomen and kicks to the legs but you should have seen how bad he looked after the fight.
Ryan and I quickly finished our breakfast and he insisted on taking me to school. "Ryan please change the channel, I'll get a headache in the early morning." I groaned as the warm rays of sun hit my face making it absolutely impossible to sleep on the ride to school. "What! You don't like The Wanted, Lilly?" Ryan asked as he spared me a glance and returned his focus to the road as if it wasn't bad enough he started singing along. I groaned again as I shot Ryan a glare before opening the car door while he was driving.
"LILLY! Are you insane?!" Ryan screamed as he halted the car to a stop before grabbing my door and shutting it. "You could have died!" he wailed and started the car again mummbling something along the lines of having to put the child safety lock next time I'm in the car. "You were annoying me!" I replied calmly as I reached for the stereo, turning it off.
