"Lilly, come on! We're going to be late!" Ash boomed through the open window of the parked car in the drive way. I gave Nate a quick kiss on the cheek as I made my way towards my brother.
He's finally here. He's really here.
I took the seat next to Ash as he pulled out of the driveway of Nate's mansion. I waved fervently to Nate as he waved back, smiling softly and then making his way inside.
Ash and I were enveloped in the most comfortable silence until he started asking the questions any brother would start asking. "So, when am I meeting this Nate?" Ash dead panned as he made a sharp turn.
"Mmm, maybe later. I don't know. He really wants to meet you too!" I replied trying to make him stop talking about this topic. I was totally lying, Nate became really nervous when I mentioned my brother, the big, buff Nate would just clutch onto me and laugh nervously until I stopped talking about him.
"Does he know that I started cleaning dad's shotgun?" he said casually as I turned my head to look at him, horrified.
"Are you going to shoot my boyfriend?" I asked but didn't wait for an answer as I started rambling, "Nate is very kind and caring. He may act like a jerk to others but he has the biggest heart. I know he loves me for what I am. He loves all my flaws, all my imperfections and even when I really hurt him and came back begging for his mercy, he greeted me with open arms. He was there when no one else was and I love him very much. So if anyone plans on hurting him, they'd have to go through me!"
I took a deep breath as Ash stared intently at me, I didn't realize that we came to a stop a while ago because of all my rambling.
"You really love that guy that much?" Ash asked seriously as I smiled sarcastically.
"Ugh, what do you think, Captain Obvious?" I retorted as I rolled my eyes and made my way out of the car.
I took in my surrounding for the first time since I rode the car and I wish I didn't. I really wish I didn't.
"What are we doing here?" I screamed. "Ashton, I asked you a question!" I screamed again at my flustered brother.
We were standing in front of my childhood house. The house I supposedly grew up in. I didn't come here since Nate's coma which was a few months back and I don't think mother even noticed my absence.
"I'm not going inside Ashton." I stated as I leaned on the car and hugged my backpack tighter, afraid of losing it.
Just like my sanity.
"I have a surprise for you later if you come inside." Ash tried to bribe me.
"You know Ashton I am not a 5 year old. You can't bribe me like that. Besides, I hate surprises. Very much." I smirked as I leaned further on the car, crossing my legs to make myself comfortable.
"Plan A didn't work. Fine." Ash took a pack of gummy bears out from his pocket and I had to refrain myself from jumping on him.
My smirk fell as I pointed to the packet and shook my head, "Not fair!"
It was Ash's turn to smirk as he started waving the packet of heavenliness in front of me. On this Earth I had two weaknesses I knew of: Gummy bears and Nate.
"I'll give you five of these if you come inside! I promise." he stated as he started making his way towards the house.
I contemplated the fact that I'll have to sacrifice and see my mother after so long, I'll have to talk to her again. But those gummy bears looked so good! It was worth it!
