The sun hasn't even risen yet, you were passed out and nothing can wake you. Well except for a loud bang that came from your common room. You quickly shot up and ran in there to see Elliot on the floor. You ran over and shook him, nothing, you lifted him up and shook him again, "ELLIOT! Wake up!" In a panic you checked his pulse, nothing. You ran out of the common and tried to figure out what way to go, where would a professor be? You went up the stairs and just tried to find someone, eventually you collapsed on the floor crying. You screamed in pain...
"Ms. Druid, you're going to wake up the whole castle." Professor McGonagall helped you to your feet and you tried to put together words.
"H-he, Elliot, h-he." You gulped down and took a deep breath, "Professor, I found him dead on the floor in my common room!" Her face went white, she quickly took your hand and brought you down to your common room.
"Open it." You quietly said the password and closed your eyes when you entered. You heard McGonagall gasp as she walked over to him.
"Oh dear...Ms. Druid go to the Great Hall and stay there till a professor tells you otherwise."
"May I grab my book?" She nodded and you ran into your room and straight back out. Just as you turned into the Great Hall Filch stopped you.
"You should still be in bed, the sun hasn't risen yet!" You were still shaking, "Professor McGonagall gave me permission...I found a student dead in my common room." Filch then ran past you and you sat down at one of the long tables. You were there till sunrise, you finished the book. You just stared at the wall, replaying the moment you saw his body on the floor.
Remus and Sirius came in and stopped when they saw you. "What's wrong with them..."
"Probably just regretting that letter they wrote you Moony..." They sat down across from you and you looked up at them with tears in your eyes.
"Woah how long have you been out here, you look like you got no sleep." You didn't respond and a tear went down your cheek.
"Y/n what happened? Who hurt you?" You started to get up but Sirius pulled your arm back down.
"He asked you a question, those Slytherins really are changing you..." You threw the book on the table and left. You hid yourself in one of the dark corridors that no one ever went through. It was probably an hour before Professor McGonagall found you.
"Druid, you can't go running off like that! I told you to stay in the Great Hall!"
You mumbled under your breath, "Sorry Professor..." She helped you up and took you to her office.
"What exactly happened."
You looked down at your hands, "I heard a loud bang and went to go see what happened, then I just found him on the floor." She placed his wand on the table.
"It was the killing curse...we think it was suicide." You looked up and shook your head, not stopping.
"No, no, no! He would never, he was excited to spend Christmas with me! Sure he wasn't too happy about his parents dying but-"
"Ms. Druid! Calm yourself...why don't you go back to your dorm and open your presents. Take your mind off of everything." You quickly got up and ran to your common room not looking at anyone or anything.
The tree had two different piles, the one for Elliot sat there, maybe never to ever be opened. You opened one from your parents and it was just a black beanie and a muggle record player with a record. The song wasn't too familiar, it was Let it Be by the beatles... you listened to some muggle songs from time to time but this one was new. Next gift was from Severus and Lucius, looks like they worked together for once. You opened it and it was a book, another romance one. You set it on top of your record player then grabbed a gift from Remus. It really said from the whole group but that was crossed out and written over. You're pretty sure Sirius or James did that. You opened it and to your surprise it was a cage with an owl in it. How did you not hear it or even notice it. It had brown feathers that faded to a white and it had pitch black eyes. You pet its feathers and put it to the side trying to think of a name. You eyed the last gift and sighed when you saw Elliot's hand writing. You carefully lifted it up and opened it to find a bracelet and a note.
Dear y/n,
Merry Christmas, I'm probably smiling next to you hoping you don't think this is me teasing you. The bracelet should hopefully help you out, it basically glows a light red when you get near your crush. I know you're trying to understand love so that's why I got it. Oh and if someone asks what it does just say it glows when you forgot something, you know like those orb thingy's.
Your older brother,
Elliot
You smiled and put on the bracelet, it fit perfectly. You looked at the note one more time and felt like crying, older brother, that made you happy considering being an only child. You then carried everything into your dorm and piled it onto your bed. Based on the sun's position you decided it was lunch time and hauled yourself down the stairs and into the Great Hall's table. The sandwich looked and tasted so good, you realized that you hardly ever ate.
"Enjoying the food?" Severus sat across from you and started to eat himself.
"Yup, were you in your common room all day?"
"No, I went outside after opening your gift...thank you." You noticed he had the book you gave him placed next to him. You smiled and your eyes widened when the bracelet lit up. "Oh wow, what's that?"
"Apparently I've uhh forgotten something...Elliot got it for me." You put your sleeve over it and continued to eat.
"Where is Elliot? He loves eating, is he still not taking it we-"
"Severus...he's dead. I found him dead on the floor this morning. Professor said he cursed himself." Suddenly your sandwich wasn't good anymore.
"Oh...I'm sorry." He didn't know how to handle the situation. Sirius was almost running to the table and put his hand in front of you.
"Can we talk y/n?" He looked angry but was trying to hide it with a smile. You looked at Severus then cautiously stood up to follow him. You stayed quiet and followed him out to one of the halls where no one was at.
"Are you oka-" He grabbed you by the collar of your shirt and lifted you off the floor against the wall.
"You are cruel! I don't understand how you can treat someone so nice like that! That letter crushed him!! I don't EVER want to see you near Remus or our group EVER again!" He then threw you down, you tried to ask about the letter but you were choking on your tears.
