Chapter Seventeen

Wyatt

I am watching Cameron talking to my daughter. My Miko is talking to her animatedly.

I could feel the warmth in my chest as I watch them. Parang sobrang natural lamang ng ginagawa namin na tumatawag kay Cameron. I will be lying if I say I don’t look forward to something like this in the near future.

“Teashel, daddy said he missed you.”

Nalintikan na.

I saw Cameron’s face turning red.

“Oh.”

“He also said he likes you.”

“Miko!” Sita ko sa anak ko na humagikhik lang.

“Teashel, I like you too!”

“Well, I like you too, Miko.” Sagot ni Cameron. Nanatili naman akong nakatitig sa screen ng phone. “ … and you should go to sleep now. It’s late and we have school tomorrow.”

“Okay, teashel. I’m going to sleep in Daddy’s woom.”

“Okay, good night, Miko. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“See you, tomollow! Good night, teashel!”

“Good night, Cameron.” Singit ko sa kanila. Cameron’s eyes widened.

“Night, Wyatt.” She said simply then ended the call.

“Daddy, milk.” Miko said beside me. Pulling the neck drop of my shirt.

“Alright.” I sighed and put the phone down on the bedside table. Lumabas na ako ng kwarto para ipagtimpla ng gatas ang anak ko.

The next couple of days has been uneventful. Aside from my parents coming for a visit, we don’t have something else and new to do. Well, I look forward to my mother’s cooking. She’s a great cook and my daughter loves her cooking too.

My mother was in the kitchen when I left to pick Umiko from school. Nag grocery na rin ako at namalengke para kahit anong gustong lutuin ni Mom ay maluluto niya.

My daughter is excited to go home when I told her about Glandpa and Glandma coming over. Umiko smells like baby powder as usual. I saw Cameron but she was talking to another parent so I did not get the chance to speak to her.

Nagpasya na lamang akong umuwi kaming mag ama, pwede ko namang makausap sa ibang araw si Cameron. I could call her tonight too.

We’re having seafood for dinner, at nasa kalagitnaan ako ng pahhihimay ng alimango para kay Umiko nang magsimulang magkwento at bumida ang anak ko.

“Glandpa, I have new shells! I will show you latel.” She started.

“I’d love to see them, angel.”
