Chapter Two

Cameron

I inhaled the scent of the ocean. I lowered the window of my car so I could feel the breeze against my face. Finally, I'm here.

I have a job application in this town and a couple more in the nearby areas. I got a call from a primary school principal a few days ago, telling me that they need a substitute teacher urgently. The teacher went to labor earlier than expected.

Ihininto ko ang sasakyan sa gilid ng kalsada at bumaba upang pagmasdan lamang ang dagat. I've always loved the ocean, the beach. It makes me feel healthy and alive.

I came here to look for something I lost a long time ago, and I am hoping to find it. I sighed and looked at the ocean again. I'm positive that I will find it. Plus, I believe that I'm pretty lucky.

Hinawi ko ang buhok ko na tinatangay ng hangin at itinali iyon bago ako muling sumakay sa sasakyan. I should go to the house I will be staying for the time being.

Mayroong balcony ang maliit na bahay at nahigit ko ang paghinga ko nang makita ko ang dagat mula roon. Nasa mataas na bahagi ang bahay at natatanaw ko mababang bahagi ng bayan at ang dagat mula sa balkonahe.

Oh, I love this house already. It's near the work place, in the heart of downtown, and comes with the breathtaking view of the ocean. Idagdag pang maraming flowering plants ang bahay. May bougainvillea na iba't iba ang kulay at tila waterfalls mula sa balkonahe. May mga orchids sa ibaba at iba pang namumulaklak na halaman. Iniisip kong magtanim na rin ng ibang halaman. I know the owners wouldn't mind.

Bumaba ako mula sa balkonahe at pumunta sa kusina. Napangiti na lamang ako dahil bukod sa coffee maker at ilang mga damit ay wala akong ibang dala kaya swerte na rin ako dahil fully furnished ang bahay. Baka sa susunod pang araw ma i-ship ang mga gamit ko.

I grabbed my purse from the kitchen counter and headed out. I'm excited to check out what this little town is about to offer.

I'm not disappointed. Two blocks from the house is a bakery and a café. Beside the bakery is a Chinese restaurant named Wok -in. Across the street are a stationery store and a gift shop. Then there's also a cute ice cream shop named Sundae's Best.

I walk towards the stationery store. I need to get myself a new set of pens and notebooks even if I still have tons of them. I know I am not the only one that is pleased and satisfied when buying these kinds of things.

"Hi! Welcome to Lines and Ribbons!" A petite young woman greeted me.

"Thanks." I answered and gave her a shy smile.

"You're new." The lady said.

"Me?"

"Yes, bago ka lang dito sa lugar. Ikaw ba ang titira sa bahay ni Mr. and Mrs. Samuel?"

"Uh, yes."

"Oh, welcome to Sevilla."

"Thank you."
