22. Double Trouble

I gasped, breathing was getting harder from the constant running and defending.

Megumi had summoned Nue as the four of us skidded to a stop on a roof.
Inumaki-senpai wiped the blood from his chin, he was slowly reaching his limit and I had no idea what I should do.

"Inumaki-senpai is going to stop it. You have nothing to fear." Megumi spoke to his shikigami before sending it at the cursed spirit.

It got ready to attack and Inumaki-senpai opened his mouth, but the only thing that happened was Nue getting impaled by the curse.

"Inumaki-senpai!" I gasped and knelt down to his fallen body, blood dripping from his mouth with each cough. I looked up to see Kamo-san looking back at us and my eyes widened.
"Kamo-!"

But it was too late as the curse punched him and effectively knocked him out.
"Fuck!"

I shot at the wooden balls that appeared and blew them up but only more of them started appearing.

Megumi pulled Kamo-san away from the onslaught of those impaling woodballs.

"Mustard." Inumaki-senpai stopped Megumi from conjuring another of his shikigami.

"Inumaki-senpai! You're going overboard!" I yelled together with Megumi, but the boy only shook us off and approached the cursed spirit.

"Blast off." and with that it was blasted away but Inumaki-senpai fell over as blood spurted from his mouth, a clear sign of having overused his cursed technique.

I cursed as I shot at the spirit, trying to distract it from the oncoming attacks at it.

"You can't cut me with that dull sword."

Behind it appeared Maki-senpai as she tried striking the curse with her sword but the blade broke off.
"Tsk!"

Megumi quickly jumped in and managed to cut off the branch that is growing out of its eyes.
But they quickly started growing back.

"Now that Katana is not bad."

"Ugh! Can that thing stop it?! It's disgusting!" I slapped the back of my head, hoping to get its voice out of my head.

"We've got something even better." Maki grinned as Megumi pulled out a three section staff out of his shadow.
"But using this... feels pretty disgusting to be honest."

Haah, guess I'm not the only one being able to do that...

"Not the point, Y/n..." I whispered as I tried getting Inumaki-senpai and Kamo-san out of harms way, while occasionally shooting at the cursed spirit to distract it from Maki-senpai and Megumi, even for a split second.

And in a matter of moments they managed to get it away from our location, and it seemed they were going towards the river I had come across earlier.

"Alright, then let's do some first-aid..." I quickly attended to both men doing the best I could. Looked them over for any wounds I could wrap up or if there were any broken bones I could stabilise.

Not long after I saw something, or better someone, fly over to me on a broom.
"You've come just at the right time!" I grinned and waved the girl over.

She frowned but came down and I helped her get Kamo-san and Inumaki-senpai onto her broom.
"Be careful so Inumaki-senpai doesn't choke on his blood, yeah? Kamo-san is passed out and has most possibly a broken arm, but he should be fine otherwise."
I quickly filled her in on the important stuff and then I send her off so she could get them to safety.
