We were standing outside of a cinema.
"It's a gruesome scene. Are you prepared?" Our mentor for this mission asked and our resolve steeled.
"Itadori-kun, L/n-kun."
With a determined nod we followed the man into the building and into the cinemahall.
The bodies of three high school students were found; dead and deformed.
"Can you see it?" Our mentor asked while adjusting his glasses.
"These are the remnants of cursed energy."
He motioned to the floor and I could see the lightly glowing footprints that he meant.
"Can see them just fine." I sighed and watched Yuuji grab his head.
"Nah, I can't see it at all." he frowned, almost glaring at the floor.
"That's because you're not trying to see it. Usually, we can confirm curses by sight like it's second nature to us." Our mentor, Nanami Kento, explained.
"When you exercise technique, you leave traces behind. We call them 'remnants'. However, they're faint compared to things like cursed spirits."
He looked at Yuuji.
"Please strain your eyes and look closely."
"Hmm?" Yuuji continued glaring at the ground. Slowly his eyes widened.
"Ooh! I can see it!"
"Of course. An independent man must be able to realize something's presence before seeing it." Nanami said in his monotone voice and that comment pricked at me.
Was that a slight jab towards me? Because I rely on my sight more than my other senses?
"You know... It would be nice if you could, like, give praise to encourage improvement or something..." Yuuji grumbled.
Ah, those two just don't click, do they? I chuckled quietly.
"I don't praise or speak ill of people. I conform to the truth and judge by that. That is the way I am." Nanami adjusted his suit before slowly starting to walk down the hall.
"once upon a time, I though society was the same, but... You two don't need to hear that story, right? We'll follow the remnants."
"Alright! Let's go all out!" Yuuji slammed his fist into his open palm, already pumped.
"No. If it can be done casually, let's do it casually." Nanami gave him not even an ounce back of his enthusiasm.
I snorted and started laughing at the dynamic of the two.
"Alright, let's just go."
I chuckled, almost feeling like a mediator between those two personalities.
Few hours earlier
"I can't lead you this time. But rest assured, I called a kouhai I can depend on." Satoru grinned while throwing one of his arms enthusiastically over the shoulders of a stiff looking man.
"This is Nanami-kun, a sorcerer who graduated from being a salaryman. ~"
"Please stop saying it like that." The man responded lackluster.
"There are a lot of strange shamans, but... This guy was employed at a company, and that just shows he's pulled together, right?" Gojo explained and Nanami sighed beside him.
"I don't think the others would want to hear that from you, either."
"Graduated from being a salaryman... Why didn't you become a shaman from the get-go?" Yuuji questioned as I started at both adults.
Sunglasses...
Blindfold...
The principal was wearing glasses as well...
What's with everyone covering their eyes? Is this a shaman thing? Does this boost one's ability or something!?
