The next day came rolling with anticipation for Charlotte. She could feel herself shaking as she walked through the royal capital. She didn't know if she was shaking with excitement or fear of seeing Yami again. To add on, the hype she got from her squad members didn't help settle her nerves.
She had told them about all the Yami-related events that happened on the mission, to which they responded with ideas as to what to do next or what Yami was hinting towards her.
"He literally said that he loves you, captain!"
"You should ask him out on a date if he's not going to do it."
"He's such a sweetheart, you guys should get married already!!"
The words of her subordinates ran through her head like little bees. She couldn't focus on anything besides the words of her squad and Yami himself, both of them getting on her nerves. As much as she appreciated their advice, she didn't have the time to be worrying about him.
Yet she always caught herself thinking about some man that was too dumb to even realize how stressed she was over him. But who could blame him. If a person looked at Charlotte with one glance they most likely wouldn't be able to tell how stressed she was. But the thing was that Yami wasn't just some person to her. She's known him ever since she had joined the magic knights and he still can't realize how she feels about him?
"Men..," Charlotte hissed under her breath as she rolled her eyes at the empty red-carpeted hall.
Her eyes shut open and her eyebrows started to pull together. She tried to continue her tangent about how unbelievable Yami was but as she thought more about him the once hateful thoughts of him turned into more lewd than hateful. Her lips pressed tightly together as a deep red pressed against her cheeks. She stopped in her tracks, which put a momentary stop to her thoughts, she brought her hands that had gotten sweaty due to the up to her face and slapped her cheeks two times. It was the only thing she thought of to get her mind back in shape.
Her face scrunched up more at the painful sting that was left on her cheeks. She let out a deep sigh, as if to let go of everything that happened between her and Yami. Being successful in her attempts, she started to think about the figure of Damen they encountered the other day.
She opened up her eyes with a grim look in them, she was certain that the person.. no, the thing they fought was the very thing that killed her childhood friend 15 years ago. She was sure of it, and she was going to get rid of it. Even if Yami had already struck it's heart and possibly killed it Charlotte was going to find out what that creature was and why Damen had to die to it. Or how he exactly died.
She rounded the corner and made her way to the Wizard Kings office. She stood in front of the light wooden door, knocked, and twisted the golden handle once she heard the voice of Julius inviting her in.
She pushed open the door and to her surprise Yami was there, a cigarette sitting on his lips that shared a bored expression with his eyes. He turned around to look at Charlotte and raised a hand to wave at her.
Charlotte stared at him for a few seconds out of surprise before continuing to walk through the doorway. Closing the door behind her she stood next to him.
"Good to see that you're on time for once," Charlotte greeted Yami in her usual cold manner without looking at him.
Yami looked down at her, her golden hair was wrapped in a tight professional bun, her cheeks looked as smooth as ever and her lips were her usual bright pink. Her blue eyes were sharp and stern, like always. He continued to stare at her, his heart went faster but, of course, he didn't know why. Charlotte turned her head to look at the pair of eyes that were staring her down.
