Charlotte made her way to a broken bookshelf, she was looking for something interesting that would be useful for their mission. Although she clearly used it as an excuse to not pay attention to the underlying awkwardness and Yami himself.

She picked out a book and started to flip through the pages. She already knew what the books were about, she had seen them before. Books that she would read in her spare time at this forgotten home.

However it was a surprise they were still in ok shape. The binders were mostly intact and although the covers were rough, some even having scratches torn into them, she could read the titles of the books.

This one in particular read Myths, Myths, and More Myths . It was a classic book Charlotte would read in her childhood. She ran her fingers across the rough, dusty cover of the dark blue book that had gold outlining the perimeter.

Wanting to experience some sort of good nostalgia in this whole mess of pain she opened up the book. The pages were a yellowish gray, some pages were crinkled up while others smelt crisp. It wasn't the fresh type of crisp but the old book kind of crisp. Some parts of the text were smudged but in all the quality of the book was really good.

Charlotte felt more at peace, more calmer with the new scent of the old book. She flipped through the pages. Skimming over the stories before flipping to a page with a paper sticking out. It was wrapped in a thin plastic bag and was firmly stuck between the two pages. Curious as to what the paper was she placed an equally firm grip on the paper. She reeled her arm back and got ready to rip it out.

"So, what happened back there? Were you possessed or something?" Yami asked.

Charlotte paused her actions, her arm fell down to her side but her grip on the plastic got tighter. She didn't turn to look at Yami. If she did he would've seen her emotions.

Sad. It wasn't a heartbroken sad but a disappointed kind of sad.

He thought that she was possessed. Charlotte knew that he thought of the kiss as a small thing but to think it was forced by someone else? That sadness turned into anger but she continued to face her back towards Yami.

"No," Charlotte simply answered. She didn't want to add anything else to her responses because she didn't want to show that idiot how she felt.

"Really?," his voice buzzed with surprise that caught Charlotte off guard, "So why did you do it?"

"Why are you asking these questions?" Charlotte shot back at him, her annoyance seething into her voice. Why did he sound surprised, did he honestly think she was possessed?

"Well I just want to get a, erm, better understanding," Yami hesitated with his words.

Charlotte sighed. That was the last piece of evidence she needed. As blunt as Yami usually was Charlotte could tell he was being more careful with his words. She smiled at herself.

A mocking smile, a smile that rubbed the phrase 'I told you so' into her entire existence. After the kiss she doubted that Yami actually shared her feelings and his words continued to support that fact.

"What is there left to understand? You can just say it, Yami." Charlotte calmly said. She let go of the picture and closed the book.

"Say what? The thing is I don't understand." Yami tried to argue with Charlotte who stood up from the bookshelf.

She held the book firmly at her side, knuckles white and pale. She turned around on her heels bravely and faced Yami. He was looking right at her while kneeled over a stack of books. He looked genuinely confused but Charlotte didn't believe it. She couldn't.
