"Yami," Charlotte called his name.

Yami came back to reality, out of his mind of thought. His tensed eyes softened into confusion as he heard his name be called out from Charlotte.

"What?" He asked.

"Let's go back," Charlotte said.

Her voice seemed much more softer than before and her movements were a bit shaky. Yami didn't know why they had to go back, they hadn't found anything useful yet.

"How come? We still need to find something useful," Yami objected.

He stared at Charlotte with confusion, her hands were shaking. Was she cold? There weren't any drafts that came through the clearing, maybe she was scared? Of what though?

"We can just take back the moss," Charlotte negotiated with Yami, "Plus, there's probably something in the house that will help us."

She walked over to a nearby tree and crouched down at the roots. She got out a pouch and looked for a piece of moss. She found a patch and made haste to pick it up, not wanting any insects on her.

Yami watched Charlotte pick up the moss before hissing in pain and dropping it. He quickly came up behind her, kneeling down to see if she's ok.

"What's wrong?" Yami asked concern pouring out of his mouth.

Charlotte held her hand in pain, "The moss, it burnt.." she muttered, clenching her teeth in pain.

She leaned her back against Yami's chest for support as the medical flower popped up from her hand. It's petals wrapped around the area that got affected from the moss.

Yami put a hand on her shoulder and watched the flower release the nostalgic yet addicting magic. He restrained himself from moving towards the gravitating flower.

Charlotte's shoulders tensed at the hand that rested on her shoulder. Yami could see her cheeks redden a little but her attention stayed on her hand.

The moss reacted to her the same way it did to him.

At least they weren't dead like a few others.

Thankfully, for that information he came to a conclusion. The curse couldn't be feeding off of false love. If that was the case then they most definitely would've been in a much graver situation than moss burning their cells.

So what was the moss reacting to?

Yami let out a sigh as he tried to find a reasonable way to put all the pieces together. Charlotte turned her head over her shoulder to meet his eyes. She looked confused and concerned at his sigh.

"What's wrong?" Charlotte questioned him.

Yami met her eyes. The cold light-blue sparkled with suspicion while they gave him a brooding look. Chills fell down from the top of his spine to the very bottom. A stomach-turning feeling welled up inside of him as he and Charlotte shared a silent but intimate gaze.

"Have you ever. . . Felt any kind of love towards me?" Yami spoke hesitantly. His voice felt heavy and tense.

He didn't know why but he was nervous. His grip slightly tightened around Charlotte's shoulder, gently pulling her closer as he did. Her face got redder with his words, they got closer together.
