After conquering Ba Sing Se, you, Azula, Mai, Ty Lee, and Zuko gathered on a ship to head back to the Fire Nation.

You had expected Zuko to be happier about it, he was finally going home after three years, but he didn't seem happier. In fact, he seemed more distant.

The only person he would talk to was Mai. They had gotten together after a couple days on the ship. Mai really liked Zuko, and Zuko liked her, so you were not going to do anything about it. And besides, you didn't like her that way anymore. You were just friends.

You were laying on your bed in the ship, bored out of your mind, when Zuko walked into the room.

"Are you mad at me?"

You sat up, "Why would I be mad at you?"

"You haven't been talking to me much," He paused, frowning, "Azula told me about you and Mai, I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For stealing your girlfriend."

"You didn't steal her, Mai is her own person who is capable of making her own decisions. If she didn't want to date you she wouldn't."

"But, you guys were together and then I came along-"

"Don't you dare say that you ruined it," You told him sternly, pointing an accusing finger in his direction, "We broke up way before you guys got together. And besides, I don't have any feelings for her anymore."

He released a breath, looking relieved, "So, we're good?"

You gave him a halfhearted smiled, "We're good."

"Okay, well, I'm pretty sure dinner's ready."

You clapped your hands together, "Great, I'm starving."

You finally arrived at the Fire Nation, greeted by servants who guided you to the palace.

After you had changed into more of an appropriate outfit for a Princess, a servant came by to tell you that you were needed for an announcement.

You, Azula, and Zuko walked to a balcony above a large crowd of people. Lo and Li were already there, announcing your return.

"Your Princesses Y/N and Azula, clever and beautiful, disguised themselves as the enemy and entered the Earth Kingdom's Capital. In Ba Sing Se, they found their brother, Zuko and together they faced the Avatar," Li said to the crowd.

"And the Avatar fell," Lo and Li both said, "And the Earth Kingdom fell!"

"The Princesses' agents quickly overtook the entire city. They went to Ba Sing Se's great walls and brought them down! The armies of the Fire Nation surged through the walls and swarmed over Ba Sing Se, securing our victory."

"Now the heroes have returned," Lo said, "Your Princess Y/N!"

You walked out into the balcony, facing the crowd who cheered as you came into view.

"Your Princess Azula!"

Your sister stood beside you and the crowd continued to cheer.

"And after three long years, your prince has returned home. Zuko!"

Zuko stood on your other side. Any random person would assume he had no expression, but you knew him too well, and you could tell that he was worried. For what reason, you had no idea.

You walked out into the palace garden. You wanted to talk to Zuko, to ask him why we seemed so worried earlier.

He was sitting by the turtleduck pond, feeding them as he used to with mother.

"Everything okay? You seemed worried earlier," You asked as you sat next to him.

"I haven't seen Dad yet," He said, throwing another piece of bread to the turtleducks, "I haven't seen him in three years, since I was banished. What if he doesn't want me home?"

"You helped kill the Avatar, why wouldn't he want you home?"

"I don't know, I'm just nervous I guess."

You wrapped an arm around him, putting your head on his shoulder.

"Zuko, you don't need to be nervous. Dad wants you home, I'm sure of it. And even if he doesn't, I want you home," You looked up at him, "I missed my annoying brother."

"Thanks, Y/N," He said with a small chuckle, "You're definitely better at comforting me than Azula."
