A/N sorry for the later update, I've been stressed lately and I just want school to be over. (Also my birthday is tomorrow so yay me)
• • •The day of black sun had finally arrived, and you had a choice to make. Stay with Azula, or go with Zuko.
He had trusted you enough to explain his entire plan, about how he was going to leave and help the Avatar.
"Zuko," You whispered stepping into his room. He was kneeling in front of a painting of your mother.
At the sound of his name he turned around, spotting you in the doorway he smiled slightly.
"Made your choice?"
You nodded.

Walking down to your father's hide out was way more scary than you had initially thought.
"You sure we have to do this," You asked Zuko.
"Do whatever you like," He said, "But I have to face him."
You sighed, continuing down the path with Zuko. If he was going to do this then you were too.
You came to a stop in front of the giant metal doors leading to your father. Zuko turned to look at you, and you both closed your eyes and pushed open the door.
"Why are you here," Your father asked, looking disapprovingly at both of you.
"We're here to tell the truth," Zuko said.
"Telling the truth during the middle of an eclipse. This should be interesting."
He waved a hand and the guards left the room.
"First of all, in Ba Sing Se, it was Azula who took down the Avatar."
"And why would she lie to me about that?"
"Because the Avatar's not dead. He survived," You spoke up, Ozai's gaze TID ring towards you with a scowl.
"What?"
"In fact," Zuko said, "He's probably leading this invasion right now."
Your father stood up, pointing at you and Zuko as he yelled, "Get out! Get out of my sight if you know what's good for you! Both of you!"
"That's another thing," Zuko stepped forward, "I'm not taking orders from you anymore."
"And neither am I."
Ozai looked shocked at seeing his two oldest children argue with him. But that shocked soon turned into anger.
"You will obey me or this defiant breath will be your last!"
Zuko pulled out his swords and tossed one to you, "Think again. I am going to speak my mind, and you are going to listen."
Your father looked stunned, and he sat back down.
"For so long, all I wanted was for you to love me, to accept me. I thought it was my honor I wanted, but really, I was just trying to please you. You, my father, who banished me just for talking out of turn. My father, who challenged me, a thirteen-year-old boy, to an Agni Kai. How could you possibly justify a duel with a child?"
"It was to teach you respect!"
"It was cruel," You interjected, "You hurt Zuko and you got away with it. You're a monster."
He sneered at you.
"Then you both have learned nothing!""No," Zuko said, "I've learned everything! And I've had to learn it on my own! Growing up, we were taught that the Fire Nation was the greatest civilization in history. And somehow, the War was our way of sharing our greatness with the rest of the world. What an amazing lie that was. The people of the world are terrified by the Fire Nation. They don't see our greatness. They hate us! And we deserve it!"
"We've created an era of fear in the world. And if we don't want the world to destroy itself," You said, "We need to replace it with an era of peace and kindness."
Ozai laughed, "Your uncle had gotten you you, hasn't he?"
"Yes," You and Zuko said in unison.
Your father glowered at you as Zuko continued to talk.
"After we leave here today, we're gonna free Uncle Iroh from his prison. He's the one who has been a real father to me, and I'm sure Y/N agrees."
You nodded, "I fully agree."
"Oh, that's just beautiful," You father laughed, "And maybe he can pass down to you the ways of tea and failure."
Zuko ignored him.
"But I've come to an even more important decision. I'm going to join the Avatar and I'm going to help him defeat you.""And so am I," You said, "I've wasted too many years of my life doing every little thing you say, following you around like a lost puppy. But now I know the truth, and that I need to help The Avatar take you down. You don't deserve all this glory."
Ozai looked startled for a second, before regaining composure and announcing smugly, "Really? Since you're a full-blown traitor now and you want me gone, why wait? I'm powerless. Why don't you just do it now?"
"Taking you down is the Avatar's destiny," Zuko said, "Not ours."
"Goodbye," You said as you and Zuko made your way back to the door.
"Cowards! You think you're brave enough to face me, but you'll only do it during the eclipse. If you have any real courage, you'll stick around until the sun comes out. Don't you want to know what happened to your mother?"
You paused, turning around to face your father. You say Zuko take a step closer to Ozai. You made a grab for his sleeve, trying to stop him from doing anything stupid.
"What happened that night," Zuko asked.
"My father, Fire Lord Azulon, had commanded me to do the unthinkable to you, my own son. And I was going to do it," You made a face of disgust, your father was going to kill Zuko. How could anyone think of doing such a thing, "Your mother found out and swore she would protect you at any cost. She knew I wanted the throne and she proposed a plan, a plan in which I would become Fire Lord and your life would be spared. Your mother did vicious, treasonous things that night. She knew the consequences and accepted them. For her treason, she was banished."
Zuko's eyes widened, as did yours.
"She's alive?"
"Perhaps. Now I realize that banishment is far too merciful a penalty for treason. Your penalty will be far steeper."
Suddenly Ozai shot lightning towards you and Zuko. Your brother pushed you behind him and redirected the lightning to your father.
The two of you ran out of the room in a hurry before he could do anything else.
