Requested by music777ner . This request features a female reader named Cheryl. This turned out to be a little more humorous than I would've wanted, as love triangles aren't my forte, but I hope you enjoy!

Nothing about Cheryl and John's impromptu holiday had gone over well with Paul. It was rather silly, in fact, because Cheryl had been close friends with Paul throughout their childhood. She barely entertained the idea of seeing Paul as anything more than a protective older brother looking out for her.

And when Cheryl was introduced to the Beatles for the first time, she and John had really taken a liking to each other. John possessed a sort of dry humor that she had a knack for and, Christ, it didn't help that he was so handsome! They hit it off quick at the diner, exchanging jokes and quips over things that only they seemed to understand. Rather than engaging the rest of they band, they remained wrapped up in their little bubble the entire time.

It didn't take Paul very long to realize this, sending Cheryl one of his famous I'm mad at you but you won't know it because I'm trying to be Very Polite stares. She had to restrain herself from shooting her own glare back. What was so wrong about her enjoying herself, anyway? There wasn't any reason Paul had to ruin it.

Cheryl didn't think too much on it at the time. She was too caught up in the subtle brushes of John's fingers along her arm and the way his clever eyes lit up behind a wave of auburn fringe. Any of Paul's discontent was drowned in John's laughter and the clinking of teacups against the table.

Months had passed and it wasn't long before all of Cheryl's time was spent parading around London with John. After their recording sessions, she would
meet him at the studio so that they could run off to the pub or to the park. John would look at her with those intense molten brown eyes and, in turn, Cheryl would brush their knuckles as they walked in step down the sidewalks.

It was during such a journey that John brought up the question. They were walking around a small park, kicking up stones and making bad jokes to the trees when John stopped in his tracks. Confused, Cheryl followed suit, backtracking to meet John side by side.

"John?" She asked, studying the strange look that had befallen John's face.

"Cheryl," John replied, only partly listening. He made an attempt at humor, allowing her name to roll off his tongue in a silly accent. But he was only half there, of that she could tell.

"What's the matter?" Cheryl waited patiently for John to respond, watching the barely disguised emotions ripple across his face. John noticed her eyes and hurriedly lit up a cig to hide anything that might be betraying his true feelings.

Taking a puff, John slung his arm around her shoulder. "Nothin', Cherry. I was just thinkin'... did you have any plans comin' up? Say... July."

Cheryl furrowed her brow. "The entire month of July?"

"Are you gonna be free or what?" The briefest angry streak revealed itself, allowing a bite to John's words. The way that John was trembling every so slightly as he rose the cig to meet his lips made Cheryl think he was coming from a place of insecurity.

"Not until you tell me what I need to be free for," Cheryl countered, folding her arms.

The world seemed to stop around them. Cheryl and John were both extremely stubborn people, neither one fond of giving up their end of the conversation. John was loath to confess his raw feelings and Cheryl hated to reveal how truly desperate she was for any scrap of affection that John had to offer.
