Requested by @70sjimmy! I'm sorry this one took me a hot minute to write out, but I finally got it done!

Night had fallen, releasing a sea of stars that dotted the sky in diamonds. You couldn't resist a trip down to the beach to immerse yourself in the atmospheric noise of crashing waves. The holiday had been lavish and Jimmy had spoiled you, but you enjoyed visiting the ocean more than any of the swanky stores and restaurants he'd taken you to.

Jimmy remained at the hotel, promising to be down once he put together another surprise. You had hesitantly agreed, still unused to being pampered, even after months of being together. It was nice, that was true, but you worried that Jimmy was doing too much.

It was very possible that you were just a passing infatuation of his that would be tossed aside for someone younger and more attractive. Jimmy's constant romantic gestures would only make the whole ordeal worse. You wanted your inevitable breakup to be as quick and painless as possible.

Jimmy wasn't making it easy.

You turned your attention away from the rolling waves at the sound of someone stumbling across the sand. For all of Jimmy's gracefulness on stage, he could be such a klutz in person. You smiled fondly, peering over your shoulder to catch him trip over a sand dune and nearly topple over.

Jimmy was carrying what looked like an actual silver platter laden with fruit and chocolate. Though your heart was heavy, you managed a convincing chuckle that forced itself out of your mouth without your permission.

"Haven't you spoiled me enough?" You asked, just this side of serious. Your grin did a good job of masking the pain that you were feeling.

Dressed in a black silk pajama set, Jimmy looked vulnerable as he took a seat next to you on your blanket. He stared at you increduously, as if you were a petulent child in need of a scolding.

"Of course not," Jimmy said softly, scooting the plate towards you. "I don't think of it as that at all."

You rose your eyebrows at him. "Then what do you call it?"

In the moonlight, Jimmy's delicate features crumpled into something stricken, though he was quick to hide it behind a shroud of black hair. You wanted to take it back, to try and enjoy your time together instead of acting so negative all of the time. Always thinking of when the end would happen; always preparing yourself for the worst.

"Just take some fruit, won't you? I brought strawberries." Jimmy turned away, gazing out into the tumultuous ocean. His lips were pressed into a thin line, betraying his change in mood.

You brought your knees up to touch your chin, shooting the fruit a guilty glance. You desperately wanted to fix things, but couldn't find the proper words. Minutes passed sluggishly by in silence, neither of you bothering to speak. The air between you was tense.

"Jimmy?" You said, your voice trembling ever so slightly.

"Yes?" He sounded weary.

"I didn't mean it. I appreciate all you've done for me. You're very sweet, it's just –"

"Just what? You've been distant all week. I went on this holiday for us." You could have sworn you heard Jimmy's voice crack into something almost desperate and pitiful.
