Chapter Nine
Show time!
“Are you crazy!” I exclaimed throwing my hands in the air.
“You asked me a question and I answered honestly” he said sitting back in the booth.
“Isn’t there another way?” I asked. It’s not that Ryder wasn’t hot because trust me he is but I’d rather go with a less complicated idea.
“No, this is the only way. Girls will secretly admire you and boys will wish they had you it’s simple but why don’t you think about it and tell me tomorrow. Now onto more important things, pranking Ms Clark” he said raising his eyebrow at me and I couldn’t help but smirk. We must have spent another hour or two planning and making fun of the teachers before we decided to get some proper food to eat.
“Where have you been?” Beth asked when I stepped through the door, what’s her problem?
“Out” I replied taking my shoes off and dropping my bag on the seat by the door, who puts a chair in a hallway?
“I got a call from the school today telling me you left during the day, care to explain?” she said strictly, it was really weird seeing her like this I was only used to the sweet, kind Mrs Parker.
“Oh, yeah the school should really get a better security system I mean anyone can just come and go as they please” I told her, I walked in to the kitchen to get a drink realizing that most of the boys where in there, oh joy.
“I’m not joking around Brooklyn where were you?” she persisted following me. Jeez can she relax for one minute.
“I was out with a friend,” I explained pouring myself a glass of water.
“That’s not okay Brooklyn, you can’t just leave school in the middle of the day without permission” she told me, as if I actually cared!
“Would you rather me ask next time I plan on bunking?” I smirked fully aware I was pushing her towards breaking point.
“Are you not hearing me? This may be acceptable back in New York but here it will not go by unnoticed. I want you to have a better life here in California, a place where you can get the education you need and make real friends and learn what it’s like to be in a family again” Beth said softly and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Aw that’s cute you actually thought by giving me a heartfelt talk that I would automatically change my ways, do you honestly think I’m that pathetic?” I chuckled brushing past her to go to my room.
“Brooklyn!” Beth screamed once I was halfway up the staircase. I got to say for such a small lady she’s got a good set of lungs on her.
“Calm yourself will you, you’re giving me a headache” I told her. Normally I would feel a pang of guilt but to be honest I couldn’t care less at the moment. Once I got to my room I couldn’t resist the urge to slam the door behind me. Why can’t people just mind their own business instead of sticking their noses in everyone else’s. I completed my routine that I had started to get into and slipped under the soft silk covers. I was just starting to drift off when my phone started blasting it’s ringtone.
