Chapter Fifteen
Operation Anger Ash
Chapter Fifteen
As I sat in the Parker kitchen at the breakfast bar the only sound came from the crunch of cereal between Mr Parker and I. It wasn’t awkward one bit, we were just lost in our own thoughts. It was pretty early in the morning since I hadn’t been able to sleep and Richard had to be at work early this morning. It was my first night back in the Parker residence and I had tossed and turned all night. I actually missed Mattie’s sofa bed. Gradually, boy after boy settled in the kitchen eating breakfast. The peacefulness vanished from earlier and the room was too loud even to think. Suddenly, the volume of the boys shouting died down. Turning my head towards the door, I smirked at Ash trying my best not to laugh.
“Ash, are you feeling alright? You’re looking a little... green.” I said. From beside me Richard spluttered on his mug of coffee trying to be a mature parent which was ruined by the clear amusement in his eyes. Looking around at the boys they were trying really hard not to laugh, Max even had his fist in his mouth as laughter tears trailed down his face. Yes, I had indeed dyed Ash’s soap green. Glancing at Ash again I couldn’t help but let a chuckle escape my lips, his face was red in anger and the rest of him was green. He must of came down straight after he got out of the shower since he wasn’t wearing a shirt, just his boxers. If it weren’t for his clear anger radiating of him I would have taken the time to admire his lean body. His nostrils flared as his eyes alit with ferocity were closed into slits.
Dustin and Kenny came rushing in dressed and ready for Kindergarden. Bumping into Ash they both looked up at him in awe.
“Woah.” The said in unison.
“Brooklyn.” He seethed. I noticed the way he was clenching and unclenching his fists at his sides.
“I thought The Grinch was a Christmas thing?” I replied, cocking my head to the side. Apparently that was too much for the boys to handle since the room roared with their laughter which of course only angered Ash more.
Operation Anger Ash
Brooklyn: 1 Ash: 0
“Ash-” Mr Parker had to stop to compose himself to continue, “Son, why don’t you go get ready for school.” He said. As soon as he was out of the room Mr Parker fist bumped me. He was definitely a cool parent. I’m sure if Beth had been here instead of working early she would of had a field day especially since I was supposed to be getting the boys ‘approval’. I had no idea how to convince the rest of them to approve but I knew one thing I was going to have Ash begging for me to go home.
Once everyone was dressed for school in their own clothes since it was Casual Friday. Instead of taking the limo everyone decided to catch a ride with each other in their own cars.
“Who you riding with?” Charlie asked me. I was about to say him when Logan butt in telling me I was riding with him. With no reason to decline I hopped into his car which was more than impressive. He told me him and his dad had spent some time refurbishing an old mustang that had been passed down in the family.
“So, how are you?” He asked turning down the radio once we were on the road.
“What do you want?” I asked getting straight to the point.
“What makes you think I want anything? Can I not be an incredibly good looking guy who wants to know how our guest is feeling on this wonderful day?” He asked feigning ignorance.
“What did Beth ask you to do?” I quizzed. He laughed nervously, keeping his eyes trained on the road.
“She wanted me to try and get to know you more, help you out a bit, try and be a brother to you and all that.” He confessed.
