Playing With Fire

Who are you Kaz Brekker?

"Let it all go Graciela"

The Darkling had been meeting with Graciela for two weeks (in secret of course because the king and queen would never allow her to practice her powers) trying to get control her abilities.

She always had mishaps of settings things aflame, costing many dresses and blankets until she finally had enough. Graciela, at age nine needed to be trained like all the other grisha and she was determined for that to finally happen.

"It's. Not. Working." Graciela huffed, stomping her feet and crossing her arms, frustrated with the lack of response from her powers.

As calmly as he could the Darkling tried to get her to focus. It was never his job to teach the grisha their powers. That always being handled by Baghra, the only other human amplifier at the little palace. But when Graciela approached him he couldn't deny her request no matter how much he may have wanted to, she is a princess after all.

"Close your eyes and focus." He paused thinking of a way to make it easier for the young girl. "Imagine walking through a forest at midnight and you hear a snap. There is no weapon around and it's too dark to see anything. You have no choice but to use your powers, ignite them."

Furrowing her eyebrows and clenching her fist, Graciela felt something tug inside of her, so close but just out of reach. The flames drowned out and gone leaving only the darkness behind. And then Graciela opened her eyes, without feeling the warmth of the fire on her hands.

"Rise and shine, princess"

Graciela snarled at hearing the taunting voice of Kaz Brekker waking her up. After the eventful day she had, being forced into a plan to break into the Ice Court of all places, Graciela just wanted to be left alone.

"Go away"

That only made him step farther into her room, purposely slamming his cane harder each step.

As Graciela tried to snuggle back in her worn out blankets Kaz snatched it from her causing it to tear, earning a glare from the girl.

"Oops"

She threw a pillow at him, "get out," she growled.

"Not until you get out of bed, we have things to do." Kaz said, unperturbed by the disliking Graciela has towards him.

"In order to do those things I need to get ready, shoo."

Instead of doing what she asked he just turned around facing the wall, not only to avoid seeing her change but to hide his smirk, knowing he angered her even more.
