Ashton put a CD in the disk slot of Luke's blue CD player. And then skipped a couple of songs. "I didn't think you'd like The Strokes"
Luke looked up from the few CD's he had over on his desk. "I'm full of surprises," Luke cooed.
"You've got a wide taste of music," Ashton smirked. "PJ Harvey, Björk...Hole? Now that I didn't expect."
"You're not one of those guys who hates her right?"
"Oh no...I think she makes good shit."
"She's a Cancer like me, so I really enjoy her stuff."
"Hmm, small world. I'm a Cancer."
"That's so cool! I've never met any other Cancer boys. All I know are girls, and Scorpio guys."
"I take it that's what the boyfriend is?"
Luke looked back down to keep going through his collection. "Yeah. And Michael. They're a day apart too. It's kind of crazy"
Ashton hummed like he wasn't paying attention.
Luke cleared his throat cause he felt like the conversation went sour. "When I get a car I'm gonna have the best time driving, cause I'm gonna take all my CDs and put them in one of those flip book things. They'll all be in alphabetical order by artist too—or like most-favorite-to-just-okay."
"You don't have a car yet?" Ashton asked, picking up Luke's copy of Matchbox Twenty's Mad Season with questioning eyebrows.
"No I'm getting one for my birthday. And don't diss that album, I love it."
"Wanna drive mine?" Ashton asked.
Luke laughed cause he thought it was a joke, but when he looked up he saw that Ashton was being dead serious.
"Yeah," Luke scoffed, but only to cover up the fact that he was suddenly nervous. "Maybe someday I'll drive your car..."
"Good," Ashton smiled—trying to hide it again—and kept flipping through. "Kylie Minogue? I love her."
Luke rolled his eyes. "And you hate on Matchbox Twenty."
"No, I'm just trying to figure you out." Ashton cooed. "I can't quite get you."
"What's there to get?"
"I'm still trying to figure it out."
"Well, you figure me out and I'll figure you out. And then we'll both be bored."
Ashton laughed at that. Which was odd, cause Luke didn't think it was that funny. "No, Luke. It'll be a real shit show."
The kettle on the stove screeched it's boil and Luke ran to go cut it off. "I think it's pretty easy to see what you are." Luke called.
"And what would that be?" Ashton hummed stepping into the kitchen from Luke's room.
"You want people to think you're an asshole so you never take anything seriously. Cause you know it pisses people off." Luke poured their tea.
"I take shit seriously," Ashton defended, and Luke rolled his eyes. "Everything here is just so trivial. Nothing means anything in this place."
"Sorry it's no New York." Luke hummed teasingly, "but it's a nice little town. And I'll have you know there's a nice band that formed here. It's called Star Belly."
"Another Hole reference?"
"Most people don't get that..."
"Well, I'm sure you, Michael, and Brian sound peachy together," Ashton hummed.
