Rain pierced through the dark clouds which veiled the entire town.
Day's temptations had to be controlled, and till now, she was successful in controlling it. Just the smell of raw meat though, tantalized her taste buds. Two days without school, two days without friends. Two days without Heymish.
One thing was certain, Heymish could touch her amulet, and the way her dreams showed Heymish, he definitely was not just a mere human being. There was something deep about him as it was about her. Day lazed her time sitting on the sofa watching Netflix. The T.V set illuminated the dark room as the visuals played and sound travelled across. Her mind made several hypotheses as she watched the television mindlessly.
One, Vegart and the elder must have killed Perla and Arthur, her foster parents.
Two, Gage must know something about it, therefore she must find him. He's the closest link to her existence, after all he's her godfather.
Three, her father was alive, if so, then he must have been the one trying to guide her all along.
And four, she was madly in love with Heymish, but she knew no relationship lasts long with a foundation of lies. She had to tell him the truth, even though it risked her relationship with him, she needed to be honest.
Her chain of explanations were interrupted by the buzzing of her phone. She reached out her long arms to the wooden coffee table, which had a pacific feel to it, and grabbed her phone. She slid her thumb across the screen. Eltha. Well, at least someone is concerned about her, excluding those 17 missed calls from Heymish. Day was not ready to talk to him. Of course she loved him, but she needed time to cope up with all the happenings.
Where are you?!
Day smiled at her friend's message. Quickly working her typing skills, she padded her two thumbs on the screen, Just sick, resting at home. Will be after a week or so. :)
She kept her phone aside as her eyes fixed on television. From the corner of her eye, she saw the screen of her phone lighten up.
Okay, we miss you and Heymish.
Replying her friend quickly, with her mind fighting the urgency to know where Heymish was, she walked outside, grabbing her rain jacket, to her neighbor's house. For the first time, even after all that tension building up inside her like a volcano, she noticed how beautiful Autumn had kept her garden, how cheerful the rain looked as it descended down to the earth, she could hear the drip drip of the rain drops on her rain jacket. She shook her head as she reached the steps of the porch. It was not normal to think like this when you are tensed, Why hadn't Heymish showed up to school?
She was here for the first time. Butterflies flew around inside her stomach as rang the door bell. No answer. She pushed the button again. Day tilted her head to the right and peered through the window. Damn it, her view was blocked by the dark curtains. What a coincidence, her house had the same sort of curtains. When drawn, it didn't let light penetrate through it. Her heartbeat raced. The possibility for Heymish to be a vampire or a damphir increased as she allowed herself to make explanations as to why his house had dark curtains also.
She turned back after getting no reply for quite some time. The wooden steps creaked softly as she stepped down the stairs, with the rain never ceasing. She halted at once when she heard the door knob turned and the door open slowly. She turned back to the house as a figure emerged from the darkness, and it definitely was not Heymish.
