The phone rang on the table. It vibrated from the coffee table to Day's ear drums. It awoke her from her never ending nightmares. Yet again, she had barely dozed off.
She picked up the dim lit iPhone. It was Heymish calling her, she had saved his number on the contact list.
"Hey, good morning," Day greeted Heymish in her cracky, sleepy voice.
"Hey," the voice on the other side was distorted. Damn, she should have bought the new version of the phone the minute it was out in the market.
"Hello, Heymish?"
Atlast the voice came out clean and clear, "Hey Day, where are you?"
"At home."
"It's nine."
"What!" She checked the time on her phone and immediately got off her bed.
"Day, are you OK?'
"Yeah, just maybe LATE! Where will we meet, are you in school already?"
"Day, just watch out for that stool!" Heymish said so loudly that it bounced back from Day's ear drums.
"Wha-" Day tripped over the sitting stool near her full length mirror.
"Ouch, damn you freaking stool!" she swore at the lifeless stool that stood there, still and obviously silent.
"Told ya," she didn't know why but it almost felt like he was smiling and quite very near her.
"Why do I feel your presence here?"
"Because I am right here...look at your window, the one facing North."
Day walked towards, or more like sprinted towards the window, the curtains were already eithdrawn so she just opened the window in a hurried stance and peered down on the lane running between her house and the other one opposite to hers.
"Look up."
She looked up to the old English cottage's window opposite her own. And well, well, who can she find there apart from Heymish. That's right, Heymish was leaning on the lower window pane frame and held a phone on top of his right ear. He gave a short, sweet wave to Day as he put the phone down on his pocket. He cupped his mouth from his left hand and called out to her, "Apparently we are neighbours!"
"I can see that!"
He smiled and then gestured for her to get ready and come down.

The two started walking briskly together to school.
"Good to know that I am neighbours with such a nice lad."
"Well thanks, and good to know that I am neighbours with such an amazing young lass."
She looked up at him and met with his gaze. Everything fell silent. It was quixotic. It almost seemed like that the world around them had stopped revolving, the only rising noise they could hear were their heartbeats, both's irregular, their irregular heartbeats connected and moulded into a regular one.
