"What were mom and dad talking about earlier today, when I..I took a fall?" Day asked her sister.
"I don't really know D, but I bet it's something we shouldn't know yet and something we want to know now."
"Hm, do you think dad would tell us? I mean he was all 'tell the girls' and stuff today."
"I hope so, I am going to ask him, now." Autumn rose from her sofa and turned to the bedroom door to go outside to her father, but stopped immediately when she saw him standing there already.
He stepped into the girls' room and then inspected the outside to see no one was coming, specially his wife. Autumn sat beside her sister on the bed as her father took seat on the sofa she was sitting on. Arthur started rubbing his hands together nervously, "So I see you girls want to know about what your mother and I were discussing today."
The girls nodded.
"Very well," he paused for a while and looked towards the corridor, "Do make a mental note that your mother shouldn't get to know about this."
"We won't tell her." Chirped in Autumn.
"We promise, dad."
"Promise is a very big word D, it's the promise I made to your mother which restricts me from telling you girls the whole lot, so I will just tell you some of it, the things which won't necessarily break my promise. Autumn, I realize you've been feeling something different and hearing perhaps, right?"
"Yes, I have," Autumn stammered, her forehead, wet with sweat.
"Look at me Autumn." Her father's gaze was on her. She looked up and her gaze locked with her father's. Their gaze remained locked for atleast 2 minutes, as if they were communicating with their eyes and mind.
Tears rolled down Autumn's cheeks as her father allowed her to refrain from his gaze. Their father continued, "This matter is very powerful and very dangerous if you don't take it seriously, Autumn. Cry all you want, dear, these tears are good. Let it all come out now, before it breaks you down."
"Dad, what's happening?!" shouted Day.
"For you, my little one, I only have a handful of words, when the age comes, and when your sister and you are of equal, you will get to know. For now, we shall keep it hidden from you as you are the strongest and yet the weakest link which connects us to them." He paused, his small deep blue emerald eyes shone upon seeing his daughters wearing the pendent gifted to them by their mother. "The pendent both of you wear on your chest holds memories, feelings, and powers that each of you will acquire as you slowly come to the age, never take it off, my princesses, never."
