"What do you mean by that?" Day asked sharply.

"We are not what you think we are," Autumn started calmly. "Day, you know, sometimes things what we see or even feel are not neccessarily true. It's just a matter of time when the truth unfolds. It has to, it can't be hidden for long."

"Can you stop beating around the bush? Get straight to the point." The aggravated Day snarled at Autumn.

Autumn raked her lower lips with her teeth. "You have to take it easy Day, promise me."

"Unless you tell me now, no, I am not going to take it easy!"

"Okay, okay," She paused, collecting words together to say to Day, "We are not biologically related, Day."

"WHAT?!" Day stormed. "What on earth is this Autumn?!"

"There's even more to it. We're hybrids."

"What the hell! Of what even?!" She said with her voice filled with aghast. "Couldn't you choose any other day to blurt all this things out? On my birthday?"

"Because that's what I promised Dad."

"Whatever! and we're not related? Stop kidding."

"Day, Perla and Arthur are not our parents, neither of us are biologically related to them.." Each and every word that Autumn spoke was very appaling to Day. "They are our foster parents, but they are not our blood."

"And what proof do you have?" Day argued.

"None."

"Then how can you say they are not our parents? And that none of us are biologically related? And what is the hybrid you speak of?"

"Day, just relax," Autumn ambled over to the windows and drew the dark curtains. The room was filled with pitch black darkness. "Can you see?"

"Yes, why .." She stopped. "What's happening to me?"

"Your powers are working," she smiled at Day.

"What powers?"

"You remember mom's diary?" Autumn lifted her eyebrow. "It was mentioned there, and if you did see, as I saw, then perhaps even the memory amulet showed it to you."

Day ran her nimble fingers on her pendent which dangled on her chest. Her skin felt the finesse design and the texture of the pendent.

"Yes," Autumn continued, "That's an amulet and also a trademark for our kind, though yours is a bit different."

"DIfferent? How?"

"Yours is enchanted, it can be only touched by a person who has magical powers or a great strength and will in his soul. It can be touched by downworlders and the protectors of mankind."

"OK, OK, what are you talking about?"

"Okay, I will start off by telling you who our mom and dad exactly are. They are the guardians of the palace," she paused, "Well, they were. Before they adopted us."

"So why didn't they remain as the guardians? And the palace..of Vegart?"

Autumn nodded in agreement. "Yes, he is the master."

"And what exactly did they do?"

"Well...it was their duty to see that the laws of the palace are followed and no-one under the authority of Vegart breaks it." She looked at Day and smiled, "Before you ask anymore question, I will tell you about the society. The society is well, made up of vampires."

"W-What?!"

Autumn continued with bated breath. "Yes, vampires. And Perla and Arthur were the part of the vampire society, until they were casted out by Vegart and the alpha of the Seniors, Master Veriot, Pierick Veriot."

"And who is he?"

"Vegart's father, the great master of the palace. Vegart is just an acting master, it's Pierick who makes the decisions, Vegart is just a puppet of his."

"And why were they casted out? Because they adopted us? From who?"

"Because, in their society, only pure vampires are allowed to let in. Just because they were the guardians, they were allowed to live, or rather, be a living dead. And we are not pure. We are hybrids as I told you. I am the child of Abelia, a human and Lucius, an upper clan vampire. They both were destroyed when the Seniors found out that they had given life to something which may annihilate their clan. And which is to them, very impure."

"Reminds me of the Twilight series," she sighed, "I still can't actually digest these things."

"Oh D, I am not asking you to, it's just the things you need to know."

"And am I the same as you?"

"Close, but not similar. You are the daughter of Imera, a white witch with a human father, and Arcas, who is a upper clan vampire too. Our fathers' were best friends, D. By that, I mean all the three."

"Fancy names," Day said sarcastically, obviously not buying Autumn's words.

"Obviously, they're really old, maybe a bit longer than two centuries."

Day stood in silence and she thought about Autumn's words. Suddenly something hit her. "What do you mean by 'is' of a upper clan? Is he still physically present?"

Autumn nodded, "That's what Gage told me an year ago."
