Evidence of Existence?

'Still in there?" Day's thoughts and questions were interrupted abruptly by the flicking of Heymish's fingers just infront of her eyes, almost toughing her long eye lashes.

Coming at once back to her senses, she raked her lower lip with her teeth, "Yeah, still on earth."

Heymish let out a soft giggle from the back of his mouth. Putting his hands up in surrender, he giggled, "Hey! If you don't wanna tell me anything, it's okay!" Seeing the tension which was clearly visible on Day's face, he added, "Okay?"

Day nodded an okay.

It still pierced through her heart. She could not get the nightmare out of her head. She didn't sleep often and neither did Autumn. Both the sisters were in the library of their mother. Both lost in the thoughts of their own.

Autumn flipped through the pages, looking at the tall lamp post which was visible down the road from the clear glass windows, not paying attention to the small typed words and numbers on the pages and Day, in the thought of Heymish and her very own nightmare, became so absorbed and oblivious to her mother's diary, which she was flipping through unmindfully.

Flipping the pages to the end of the diary, a thought of something seeked her attention. She looked at the date when her mother, Perla Mary wrote in her diary for the last time.
Saturday, 14th July, 2012.

Just two days before her parent's diappearance.

"But she always writes in her diary, like almost everyday!" Day said between her clenched teeth, not totally realizing she was saying out loud her thoughts.

"What?" Autumn, whose attention had been grabbed from the lamp post to Day by her sister's words, inquired.

"Autumn, see! Mom never missed a single date from her diary, she wrote in every page, except.." She left her sentence unfinished.

"Except?"

"Except July 15th!"

Autumn's mind wandered off to the date, and she took moments to think and take her mind back in the past. Her voice, softened and saddened, "The day before they had to go to the Lon- " She stopped immediately, and wished she hadn't uttered the words she had just said to Day.

Day's reaction wasn't anything Autumn had expected it to be. She had expected it to be rather shocked and surprised, but apparently it was a 'I know right' sort of expression. Day's response was as equally soft as Autumn's. "Why didn't you tell me you had read the diary already?"

"Well, you were going through some stuffs, bullying, new school," She continued as she reached out to her sister to hold her in an embrace, "I didn't want to worry you unnecessarily."

"Unnecessarily!" Day's voice stormed in the till now quiet library as she pulled out of her sister's loving embrace. "It's a very important matter that we are discussing here Autumn! It's about our parents!"

"I know, I know, and I am so sorry, I just- just couldn't." Autumn's voice was helpless, she couldn't justify herself anymore, knowing that she wasn't the right one this time.

Day took a deep breath. "Okay, so why do you think mom didn't write anything for July 15th?"

"Maybe busy packing."

"Maybe..," Day flipped through the pages carefully, "unless.."

"Unless what?"

"Unless someone has torn the page away! See, the page for the dates 15th and 16th of July aren't here but the rest are!"

"Aw D, who would do that? No-one came here after their disappearance after us."

Day sighed softly, "But the possibilities are huge!"

Autumn's lips cornered a delicate, weak smile. 'I'm gonna get some juice, want some?"

Not paying attention to Autumn's words, Day continued her talk, "Autumn,what does it mean that we have powers? I have asked you this but I will ask you again, who are we?" She added with a small pause, as her voice cracked in sorrow, "Are you hiding something from me?"

"The sun's rays will answer all your questions D. Just wait. The evidence of our existence will surface soon."

"How soon?"

"Soon enough."
