Chapter twenty-eight

You glide down to the others.

"What were you doing up there? And why are you crying?" Strange asks.

"Nothing and I'm not crying." Anymore. You think.

"Right," Stephen says, not convinced.

"Anyway, plan?" You ask.

"We're millions of miles from Earth with no backup." Tony states.

"No dip!"

"I'm back up," Spider-Man says.

"No. You're still away, the adults are talking."

"I'm confused as to the relation here, what is he? Your ward?" Strange says.

"No." Spider-Man immediately says, "I'm Peter by the way."

"Dr. Strange." Strange says.

"Oh we're using made-up names, I'm Spider-Man then."

"Lord help us all." You mumble.

"The ship is self-correcting its course. The things on autopilot." Tony says.

"Can we control it?" You and Stephen ask at the same time.

"Fly us home?" He asks.

Tony doesn't answer.

"Stark." Strange says.

"Yeah?" He says.

"Can you get us home?" Strange asks again.

"Yeah, I heard you. But I'm not so sure we should."

"What?!" You shout.

"Under no circumstances can we bring the time stone to Thanos. I don't think you quite understand what's at stake here." 

"No! It's you who doesn't understand that Thanos has been inside my head for six years since he sent an army to New York and now he's back! And I don't know what to do so I'm not so sure if it's a better plan to fight him on a space ship of his but you saw what they did. What they can do. Listen if he's not expecting it we have a better chance!" Tony yells, "So I say we take the fight to him!"

You and Peter stand next to each other awkwardly. 

You hear Strange say, "But if it comes down to it, if I have to choose to save you, the kid, the girl, or the time stone, just know I will not hesitate let you die. I can't because the universe depends on it."

Tony walks up to Peter, "Alright kid, you're an Avenger."

He walks up to you and you stop him, "I don't want to be an Avenger. So don't waste your breath."

After a bit more fighting between Strange and Stark, Peter says, "Let me just say if aliens wind up implanting eggs in my chest or something and I eat one of you I'm sorry."

"I do not want another single pop culture reference out of you for the rest of the trip you understand?" Tony tells him.

"I'm trying to say that something is coming." He says.

A small ball rolls in front of Tony and blows up, blasting you all backward. You hit a pile of rubble and fall behind it. You moan in pain.

You hear someone enter the ship. You struggle to get up and look through a hole in the rubble.

A man with a helmet with glowing red eyes kicks Peter down and says, "Stay down clown!"

Peter lunges at him and he throws a wire, the shirt circuits Peter's suit.

"Everybody stay where you are chill the F out!" He says holding a gun to Peter's head, "I'm gonna ask you this one time, where is Gamora?"

"Yeah, I'll do you one better! Who is Gamora?" Tony says.

 "I'll do you one better! Why is Gamora!" Another guy says.

"Tell me where the girl is or I swear to you I'm gonna french fry this little freak!"

"Do it! You shoot my guy and I'll blast him! Let's go!" Tony yells.

"Do it, Quill! I can take it!"

"No, he can't take it!" A high-pitched voice says.

"She's right you can't!"

"You don't wanna tell me where she is? That's fine I'll kill all three of you and I'll beat it out of Thanos myself! Starting with you." Quill says.

"What? Thanos? Let me ask you this one time! What master do you serve!?" Strange asks.

"What master do I serve what am I supposed to say? Jesus?" Quill replies.

"You're from Earth?!" Tony shouts.

"I'm not from Earth, I'm from Missouri." Quill corrects.

"Yeah, that's on Earth dipshit! What're you hassling us for?!" Tony continues.

"Wait, so you're not with Thanos?" Peter asks. 

"With Thanos? No. I'm here to kill Thanos, he took my girl- Wait who are you?!"

"We're the Avengers, man," Peter explains.

"You're the ones Thor told us about!" The girl says.

 "You know Thor?!" Tony asks.

"Yeah, tall guy not that good looking needed saving," Quill says.

That is not correct. You think.

"Where is he now?" Strange asks.

You get up and walk out from behind the rubble.

"There's four of you?!" Quill yells.

"No, well yes but no, I'm not an Avenger." You explain.

"Right," Quill says, as he looks over to the others.
