Chapter 30

Man who can't be moved

My mom grabbed my shoulders and looked into my eyes angrily. "What?!" I glared at Brenda. She'd told everyone about Ross and I before I had gotten the chance to consider telling them myself. "Yes." Ross collapsed in a chair, his head in his hands, all of Carly's brother glaring at him. Brandon appeared to be out, "You can't get married!!" My mom screeched. "Why not?!" I fumed, anger boiling up inside of me. "You're getting married! Why can't I?! Ross and I have been together longer than you and YOUR fianc?!" I shouted. "That doesn't change the fact that you're too young to get married!" She shouted back. "Well, it's going to be too late! In two days I'm going to be sixteen; that means I'm legally allowed to get married!" "I forbid it! I'm still in charge of you until you're 18, so kiss marriage goodbye!" She snapped her fingers. An idea piped into my head. "Well.... You always said that its better for babies to have both parents in the house. And it's not good for people to have kids when they aren't married." My mom gave me an extremely surprised look. "What?" She whispered. "Yes!" I shouted. Ross was suddenly at my side. "What?! You're pregnant?!" His voice was barely louder than a whisper. I looked at him. His jaw was dropped and I couldn't tell If he was happy or mad. "But- but... We never even did it!" His eyes widened. "At least... I don't remember..." He looked at his feet. Everyone was now staring at me. Tommy's eyes flicked from me to Ross, then back again. "I never trusted you," he growled to Ross. "Hey! It's a two person job!" Ross muttered. My heart hurt. I didn't like doing this to him... My mom was silently staring at me, her eyes glazed over. "How could you?" I looked at my feet. Suddenly I heard the couch creak, and I looked up to see James getting up. He came up to me and looked into my eyes for a second. "You idiot!" He shouted as he slapped my cheek, sending me flying across the room. "Don't touch her!!" Ross shouted. I looked up just in time to see Ross hit James in the face. "You really want to do this, Disney boy?!" James shouted, rubbing his lip. Ross shied back a little bit, obviously remembering my dad calling him that. Then he stood up straighter. "Actually, I think we both know I'm stronger than you!" He smirked, "Oh yeah? I guess we'll see!" James shouted. "Stop!" Brenda and I shouted in unison. Ross and James broke apart and stared at Brenda, then me. It was very unusual for Brenda and I to agree on things. "Stop," Brenda said firmly. "Fighting never solved anything. Anyway, it's too late to do anything, isn't it?" She looked at me. "Everything's done now, and that's that." "That's the smartest thing you've ever said," josh muttered. He was still seated on the couch? Watching everything silently. That was when we heard the crash. Forgetting about the problem at hand, everyone ran outside to find Brandon smiling sheepishly in front of the car. "Brandon!" His mom shouted. He had run the cat into the gate to enter the horse and cow pasture. "I wasn't paying attention!" He drowned and ran his fingers through his long hair nervously. "I'm so sorry!" He glanced at me and Ross; obviously he knew what had been taking place in the house. That little shrew! I smiled slightly. He had purposely destroyed the fence and car to get everyone off of our backs; for the moment, at least. Once everyone had made sure that Brandon was ok, and josh attempted to fix the fence, and succeeded (sort of...), everyone walked inside. Ross started following, by I grabbed his shirt and pulled him behind a tree. He ran his diners through his hair and breathed out heavily. "how come you didn't tell me you were pregnant?!" I glanced towards the house to make sure everyone was in. "because I'm not..." I whispered. "WHAT?!" He shouted, jumping. "Shh!" I cupped my hand over his mouth. "Thank goodness!" He lowered his voice. "But... why would it be so horrible if I was pregnant?" I asked. "because! I mean... Then it would mean we..." He lowered his voice. "did it... Plus, even when we do get married, I dot think we should start having kids for a while..." He muttered. "it'd be a lot to take on." I nodded. "I agree." Ross kissed my forehead and leaned down and rested his head on my shoulder. "what do you think they'll do when they find out you aren't actually pregnant?" I looked at him for a second. "We'll be married by then. And maybe... I'll actually be pregnant." Ross smiled a little. "Maybe not." "Most likely not, but at least we'll be married by then," I raised an eyebrow as i watched Greyson examine Josh's job of "fixing" the fence. He trotted away, obviously not pleased with Josh's work. Ross laughed at Greyson, then he grabbed my hand and we walked inside the house together, mentally preparing ourselves for the wrath of my family.
