Its only been a few days being here in the rurals but It already feels like I’ve been here for decades this is one thing I hate about coming down here.

I was busy washing dishes we used for breakfast when a call came through. I quickly wipe my hands and pick up my phone and check the caller ID and it’s my best friend mandisa

Me: friendooo

Mandisa: heyyyyy girl you’re so scarce, haven’t heard from you in a while

Me: I know friend I’ve just been so busy you know how hectic it is being a village girl

Mandisa: I know right, how’s gogo

Me: she’s okay, she’s just happy to have someone to help her around the house and stuff, but you know she’ll still look for something to do even if it’s not there

We both laugh

Me: you know how these old people can get

Mandisa: yeah definitely but you must be glad to still be able to spend time with her, some of us don’t even have those priceless moments

Me: yes chommie I trust me I am totally grateful

Mandisa: anyways you never gave me gossip about your day with Eva at gold reef, so don’t think you’re off the hook. Come on now tell me all about it

Me: woooo chomam you don’t wanna know
I say dramatically clapping my hands as I walk out the kitchen taking a walk around the yard smiling

Me: soooo….

I tell her everything and by the time I’m finished I let out a deep breath I didn’t know I was holding

Mandisa: ohh my gosh friend, can you see that she’s starting to be a good person though

Me: I am just as amazed friend

Mandisa: but I never pictured her as the type to be all freaky and sexual. She always looks so serious and ready to kill

I laugh

Me: haiibo that’s my person njalo

We laugh and continue talking about other random things. I am standing by one of the poles of the garden yard when I hear my grandmother shouting my name and surname angrily

“ZOLANI MAKHAWULA!!!!?”

I quickly run to her and find her in the kitchen. “gogo?” I say catching my breath from the 2 second marathon I just ran.

Her: what is this?!!! Why waste food like this and leave this kitchen a mess to God knows where?!!!

I look around and the kitchen is a mess for real but this is not how I left it when I was attending my call. The pots had fallen off from the stove and the dogs were having a feast of the meal I had prepared for lunch and dinner. My heart dropped to the floor with just the thought of starting all over again with food preparations.

My grandmother chased the dogs out as I was busy cleaning up the mess on the floor and everywhere else.

#Eva’s pov

It’s been a few days since Zola left and I was just chilling in my room listening to our favourite songs because I was missing her when my guy best friend walked in and switched the music off from the speaker

Me: what the hell?

I say sitting up straight on my bed annoyed

Him: nah bro you’ve been sitting here for the past few days crying over this girl as if she dumped you
