Thando and I have been talking and hanging out a few times now, she's great company, your typical Zulu girl. So I guess it's safe to say I was slowly catching feelings for her. She had invited me to spend Christmas at her house, meaning I was going to meet the family.
So on this day I'm in my room packing my clothes as I was going to spend the Christmas eve with her anyways. I received a call from Kim
"My sugar and spice" I answered
Kim: haii wena save that for your girl Thando
Me: mxm I'm trying to be romantic apha
Kim: I don't want to die young I still have a lot of coochies to eat.
Me: omggg TMI
Kim: of course you would act innocent
Me: whatever
Kim: let's go get ice-cream down the road and then you can tell me about this profound love of yours
10 minutes later we had just bought our ice-creams and taking a walk around our neighbourhood
Kim: so how's Thando
I blushed
Kim: ouuuuuuu girl look at your cheeks turning all rainbowish
Me: omggg shut up. Soooo she's nice..
Kim: oh no that's boring
Me: you didn't even let me finish
Kim: fine continue
Me: so I'm spending Christmas with her family
Kim: omggg don't you think it's too soon.. I mean you only known this girl for like 2 weeks
Me: you're starting to sound like Mandisa right now. Since when are you so cautious
Kim: ohh wow what are you trying to say Zola
Me: uh-
Kim: wow so much for being a 'true friend'
She dumped her ice-cream cup in the dustbin and left me there. I decided to go back home. I got a call from Thando
"hey" I lazily greeted
Thando: hey you good?
Me: I'm okay how bout you
Thando: I'm good I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time
Me: not necessarily
Thando: are you ready, I'm downstairs
Me: I'll be there in a minute
I took my bags and headed downstairs I saw here standing next to this beautiful BMW x5 with tinted windows, my dream car
Me: omggg look at youuuuu
I squealed and she smiled
Thando: well I try
She took my bags to the boot and opened the backseat for me. As soon as I got in I was startled by a female's voice
Voice: you must be the famous Zola
Me: oh my goodness gracious me, don't do that!!!
Woman: oh I'm thando's mom
She said extending her hand towards me. It must be their norm
Me: oh hi Ma I'm so sorry
I extended my hand to meet hers. Thando got in and we drove to her place.

Christmas with the Gumede's was splendid. Her family was so warm and welcoming, I was supposed to spend new years with them too but things took a turn when thando switched up on me, she was snapping all the time, of course we slept in separate rooms from day 1 but she would come at night and cuddle with me and we'd sleep like that but lately she completely changed you'd swear she was avoiding me.
This one morning just a day before the 1st, I decided to pack my bags then went to the kitchen and met thando's mom preparing an English breakfast.
Me: sawubona ma
T mom: hey baby ulale kahle?
Me: yebo ma, did you?
T mom: yes baby. Sit down so I can dish up
Indeed I pulled a chair and sat down
Me: ma.. Uhm... I'm leaving today
T mom: haiibo won't you stay for new years?
Me: no ma
She put the plate before me and sat down next to me.
T mom: baby what happened? Are you not having a good time? Is it thando?
I looked away and sighed then looked back at her
Me: I think I've overstayed my welcome
T mom: listen I'll talk to than-
I held her hands softly laid them on the table
Me: ma it's okay, there's no need. My family misses me anyways. I promise I won't be a stranger I'll still come visit you every now and then. But for now lets eat this scrumptious breakfast.
She nodded and we both indulged in the food Thando had disappeared somewhere in the house. After that I helped mam gumede with the dishes then went to the guest room I had been sleeping in and took my bags. I attempted to leave but I Thando was standing by the door frame looking at me blankly
Me: hey, so I'm leaving
She nodded still looking at me. That hurt, I didn't want to have a staring contest with her so I walked past her and walked home, we lived in the same area anyway just different streets, I got home and dialled Kim's number but she didn't pick up, but when I logged in to WhatsApp she was online. I guess she was still mad at me.
I was emotionally drained for the morning so laid down in bed and hugged my human size unicorn teddy and slept
few weeks later
it was now back to school first day and I was not ready at all. I went to my friends and greeted everyone then my eyes met Kim's. I went to her
me: hey
Kim: hi
me: I'm sorry I know I'm an idiot, you have every right to be mad at me but its killing me now I miss you so much
Kim: omggg come here
she gave me a tight hug
Kim: I forgave you a long time ago I just had to be dramatic about it first.
I playfully hit her on her shoulders and mandisa came to us
mamdisa: I'm glad yall fixed things I was getting sick and tired
Kim: group hug!!!
voice: Zola..
I instantly turned around and there she was, looking more beautiful than when I last saw her
her: hey
I just stood there dumbstruck
