He grew up with an oblivious dad, a busy mum, a thousand stepdads and no love. He has scars. Now he's moved out of home. He's living with his boyfriend and talking to a professional. Just a problem...the two doesn't mix. Harry stands very much alone in this.

"My mum..." Nervous laughter bubbles from his mouth, a defensive mechanism to hide how much everything really affects him. "She's dating a drug addict."
"And how does that make you feel?"
"I don't know." He pauses to think. It's short and pointless because he does know how he feels about it. "I don't feel safe."
A pensive silence fills the room.
"Have you talked to her about it?"
"About what?"
"Her boyfriend and his problem."
"No."
"Would you like to?"
"No."
That's it. The session ends without any real progress. They've been through most of it before, but she's asking all the wrong questions and he gives all the wrong answers.

Sometimes Harry doesn't even know why he pays for those meetings. They never help anyway - but he keeps at it and keeps paying. He isn't good at sharing with people, so he prepares himself for the time when the psychologist will say she can't help him if he won't open up to her. He just can't make himself do it.
Nevertheless, Harry keeps up the meetings, because at least it feels like he tries. He does try to get past his issues; he just isn't one to make huge progress in little time. Baby steps, like when you fall in love and you need to take it slow or else it'll break apart.
Though Harry hasn't seen love with his own two eyes as a kid, he knows what it's like. He feels it every time he comes back to the flat from the session, when he wakes up in the morning, before he goes to bed in the evening and even while he's just mindlessly watching TV. Because Liam is right there beside him.
While Liam doesn't know the situation Harry is in, it's as if he does anyway because he's always extra tender and loving when Harry enters the flat. Harry should tell him about it all - like why he even disappears for two hours three times a week - but he's afraid. He's broken, doesn't work probably inside, and maybe if Liam found out, he'd leave him just like everybody else has. Harry couldn't ever live with that.
Harry stands outside the door to their shared flat for some time, just to get him out of his session state. The talks depress him more than normal day life does, and he knows he can't face Liam if he feels like that.
Just as he's about pull the handle, the door flies open and Harry's immediately enveloped in his boyfriend's warm and safe arms in a hug. He breathes deeply, lets his scent fill his nostrils, lungs, entire being.
His own arms weave around Liam's waist, tight and trembling. Harry's not sure where Liam thinks he's going, if he's even remotely close to the truth or if he's stumbling over numerous ideas.
"Hey," Liam murmurs against his shoulder. He feels the vibrations run through his body, the lips that move against his shirt clad skin.
"Hi," he whispers back. His voice is rough and shaky.
"Next time, don't leave without saying goodbye." There's the unspoken and where you're going but Harry ignores it, ignores the guilt that grows inside him because he's hiding a huge aspect of his life from the one person he loves, and who loves him back just as much.
