Everything Zayn says is a lie - also the part where he swears he's totally seen Liam smashed - 'cause Liam isn't borderline-stalking some stranger from the bar he works at. He just makes sure the poor sod makes it home alright at the end of the night. It's just his protective nature, nothing more.

It's kind of weird to stand behind a bar and hand out alcohol when you've never really been much of a drinker yourself. At least, that's how Liam sees it. He blames his fragile kidney in front of everyone, but the thought of getting smashed and making a complete fool of himself in public has never really appealed much to him either.

Being a bartender at least pays the rent, and it's not like Liam's able to waste it on outings every other evening when he's almost always standing behind the bar. He's saving up. For what, he isn't really sure of yet. Liam just really wants to get out of this hole and do something with himself.

Who even said you needed to have your life figured out before it's yet to begin. Isn't it part the fun, planning as you go down the bumpy road of life? Or some other shit that Zayn's fed Liam lately. He might've mixed a few of his poetic sayings together, but it's not like he really cares that much anyway.

Bottom line: Liam takes everything as it's thrown at him.

And right now, that's working in a shitty bar on a Saturday night where everyone is drunk off their face and completely unaware that Liam really doesn't give to shits whether or not their wife knows they're here, or maybe some other dumb shit, like she just ended their relationship because it apparently didn't work out. There's too many of the usual clichés present, but Liam's already gotten one warning this week so he can't go and tell them to bugger off.

He's not usually so grumpy, but he's been working the evening shift all week and he can't sleep once the sun rises, so he's kind of running on whatever caffeine he can get his hands on.

It's sad and Zayn has already bothered Liam enough to get him all riled up when new costumers come stumbling through the door, bringing with them lots of obnoxious laughter and booming voices that isn't helping Liam's mood any.

They're definitely young. If their little care for everyone around them wasn't a given, then their appearances gives them away immediately. Though they can't be much younger than Liam himself.

"Did you invite the frat party?" Liam hears Zayn mumbling in his direction before the Pakistani native takes a trip to the back, most likely to avoid serving the new comers. Liam glares after him, mutters some obscene words before he turns around to come face to face with sparkling green eyes matched with an ear-splitting grin.

There's this annoying lump of something that he can't force away, he swears, or else his first words to the startling boy would've been a bit more than a few distinctive sounds. Embarrassing as hell, he knows. And apparently the boy thinks so too, shoulders shaking with suppressed laughter and curls bouncing in his face before he swiftly brush them aside again. Liam is certainly intrigued, something he hasn't been by another human being in quite a while.

Liam clears his throat and tries to regain some of the pride he clearly lost. "What can I get you?" The boy's eyes take him in and his tongue wets his chapped lips - not that Liam is staring at them - before he orders a round for the boisterous lads by the table in the back of the bar.

As the boy calls for 'Will' to get off his lazy bum and help him, he gathers two glasses in his own hands. He flashes Liam another smile and subtle wink before he saunters back to the table. Liam's heart is not running one mile an hour, and the hammering of it is not all he can hear. Liam should practice lying more often.
