Look After You

Liam is sick and doesn't want Harry to find out because he doesn't want everybody taking care of him.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Liam groaned and rolled over, scrambling to turn off his alarm. His head pounded and his stomach churned as he tried to sit up, and he suddenly felt a wave of dizziness washing over him that made him collapse back on the bed. Maybe he could just stay in bed for a few more minutes...

"Morning, sunshine!" Harry bellowed brightly, bursting into Liam's room with a grin on his face. He took a leap onto Liam's bed, curls bouncing as he shook the older boy lightly.

Liam bit back another groan and sat up, plastering a smile on his face. "Hi, Harry." He said, tossing the covers off him and slowly climbing out of bed, trying to avoid another dizzy spell.

Harry frowned slightly. "You okay? You look really pale...and you're all sweaty."

Liam's stomach twisted dangerously. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just had too many covers on last night, that's all." He brushed it off, raising his palm to try and wipe the beads of sweat from his forehead. His face was scalding hot, but he ignored it. If he could just get through today, then he could try and find some excuse to go to bed early and sleep it off.

"I made breakfast. Waffles and chocolate milk, your favorite." Harry said, his lips flickering into a grin.

Liam almost retched at mention of the rich-sounding breakfast. "Yum," He said with an appreciative grin and a nod. He knew he couldn't tell Harry he was sick. He didn't want anyone taking care of him - much less the innocent younger boy. Liam had always felt like, as the older and more calm one, he should be the one to look after Harry, and he didn't want Harry to feel burdened by him.

"C'mon, Li!" Harry urged, grabbing Liam's wrist and tugging him out of his bedroom. "If you don't hurry up, the lads will eat all of it! I hid yours in the microwave, but it's only a matter of time before he finds it."

Liam winced as Harry suddenly tugged him forward, the jolt making his stomach lurch and his head pound. He secretly prayed with every fiber of his being that Niall had found and eaten his breakfast, but he had a feeling he wouldn't be that lucky today. "Oh, right." He mumbled.

Harry froze. "Your hand's so clammy. Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine!" Liam assured him, waving his concerns off easily. He took a step forward to walk out of the room ahead of Harry, but his head gave another fierce pound and he stumbled, nearly falling to the floor.

Harry caught him, easily but with a bewildered look on his face. "You're sick." He said, sounding both concerned about the older boy and hurt that he'd been lied to. He raised a large hand and pressed it to Liam's forehead, his eyes growing wide as he felt how hot he was. "You're really sick!"

"I'm just hungry and overheated." Liam brushed it off, but his words were cut off as his stomach gave a great lurch. He suddenly felt adrenaline surge through him, giving him just enough strength to run into the bathroom across the hall and collapse in front of the toilet before he started vomiting.

He didn't even hear Harry come up behind him, but suddenly hands were on him, brushing his sweat-dampened hair off his forehead and rubbing soothing circles on his back. Though everything sounded distant, he could hear Harry singing quietly to him as the retches shook through his body.

"Shh, it's okay." Harry whispered as Liam finished. The curly haired boy hitched his arms around Liam, helping him to his feet and support him as he walked the boy back to his room, setting him down on the bed before smoothing his covers back over his trembling body.

"I'm sorry," Liam croaked.

Harry shook his head. "Don't be. I'll go get something for your fever and nausea. Do you want some tea?"

Liam nodded slightly. "Thank you," He managed to whisper.

Harry grinned and patted his shoulder through the covers. "Anytime."
