Cold.
That was the only thing you could feel from the early morning to late at night.
Empty.
It was what greeted you whenever you came home from doing your commissions.
Betrayal.
One emotion you never wish to experience for the rest of your life.
Things were never like this before. It was back then when you used to wake up with a smile on your face with the warm sun greeting you. It was back then when you didn't feel like something bad was going to happen every two seconds. It was back then when you weren't so high on your feet while jumping at every little thing.
It was back then when you were happy.
But now? Everything felt like falling apart.
Mondstadt was slowly changing as the days went by. The warm welcome of everyone soon started fading away into an empty city. The streets felt creepy to walk by and it made the hairs on your body stand up from the smallest gust of wind.
Nothing was the same ever since Venti, the Anemo Archon Barbatos, sacrificed himself to save Mondstadt.
You felt like throwing up whenever you saw how this once vibrant city looked so dull in comparison. It was like the icy cold mountain of Dragonspine had taken over.
"If only I wasn't too late to save him." Your bitter tears meant nothing to anyone as you watch how a devastated Barbara faked a smile upon seeing your arrival. You couldn't blame her for her simple actions.
You just wanted to collect your rewards from Katheryne and leave before the ache in your heart gets too much. You could just see the bright colors of Mondstadt burst a little in front of you, but the moment you blinked everything was back to your new normal.
"Deep breaths." You whisper and thank Katheryne before setting off to home.
Home. What was that really? It felt strange to say that now after everything and it left a bitter aftertaste.
You enter your new normal and look around to find a familiar vision on your desk and you let out a sigh. The memories flooding back in an instant while you pick up the vision, slightly caressing the geo mark.
