xiao x aether one shot

"Xiao!" Aether smiles brightly at the sight of the Vigilant Yaksha, his figure covered with his dark aura before it disappears at seeing a very happy Aether approaching him. Xiao focuses his attention to his pretty face and he softly smiles at the gift he prepared for him.

Seeing Xiao smile caused Aether to stop and process that image in front of him, his mind racing with a lot of thoughts. He was very happy to see Xiao smiling and that was enough for him to feel completed.

"Aether..." He softly says and reaches out for his hair, petting it slightly with a very satisfied expression. The soft locks flowing into the wind and the light blush on his cheeks merely made Xiao pull him into a small hug.

His actions were too out of character for him and it slightly freaked Aether out, his eyes widened at the single thought and he tried to figure out what the special occasion was. His head was too much in a frenzy to come up with a conclusion.

"Th-this is out of character for you!" Curse the world for stuttering at this moment and it made Xiao stare into your eyes, an unreadable expression on his face before breaking out into a chuckle.

"I know that it is, but I just feel a little less like I normally do." He held back the fact that he's genuinely happy whenever Aether is around. His frequent visits to the inn makes him much better and his mood just gets better if he was having a bad day.

"Ah if you say it like that..." Aether couldn't help the butterflies erupt inside his chest, the warm feeling engulfing him whole and he happily welcomes it. He feels like he's on cloud nine with this joy and holds back from hugging him.

"Where's your floating friend?" Aether remembered how Paimon informed him that she will be with Xiangling for the day to test out her new dishes, her eyes beaming with excitement when she announced it.

"Oh she's with Xiangling to test out her new dishes." He casually answers and scratches the back of his neck, laughing a little and if Xiao has never seen the most perfect human being he doesn't know what else to say.

Over the time the two spent time together Xiao's tall walls slowly crumbled in front of Aether, his stoic face turning softer with each visit and even if he chastised how much Aether keeps on calling for him he doesn't have the heart to deny him.

"Come with me to the inn." Xiao blurts out, surprised at his outburst and hides the slight blush rising on his cheeks. Aether merely blinks at the flustered yaksha in front of him and softly smiles, agreeing to his proposal and they both walk inside.

Their hands brushed past each other and Xiao took the chance to hold onto Aether's hand. He calmly stated that the elevator wasn't working and offered to help Aether climb up the broken stairs.

"They still haven't fixed them or did they break again?" Aether gawks at the broken staircase, a little bit frustrated that it was broken once more. He wasn't sure how this even happened, but he won't ask anymore at this rate.

"I frankly don't care much for human contraptions." Xiao frowns at Aether's distaste and clicks his tongue, holding onto his hand tighter and gently guides him up the stairs. He often holds onto his waist when it comes to jumping from a certain distance and Aether blushes slightly at the touch, not once backing out.

It only led Xiao to be more touchy with the traveler while secretly smiling to himself, wishing that he was able to picture this moment with one of those kameras that Aether showed him last time. At first he was hesitant at the human made object, but later on kept it to himself when he saw how happy it made Aether when he took some photos of him.

"We're here." The short lived moment merely made Xiao peel away from Aether to grab something and hid it behind his back. That action caused confusion to appear on Aether's face and he tries to take a peek at what Xiao was hiding.

His curious gaze had Xiao chuckle at the cute action and he gestures for Aether to sit down. The anticipation building up inside of Aether and he quickly sits down, excitement and curiosity bubbling inside of his body.

Xiao takes out his surprise from behind his back and to Aether's surprise he was shocked at the jar full of crystalflies. It finally clicked in his mind that Xiao was giving him a gift on his birthday and before Aether could open his mouth Xiao beat him to it.

"There was nothing for me to do today. So, I decided I would find a Crystalfly for you–to put in your hair. I thought that...it would look nice. The next thing I knew, I had caught several more than I intended. I hope you do not mind." Xiao shyly chuckles and hands the jar in Aether's hands, their fingers grazing each other causing Aether to blush a little.

"These are more than enough Xiao..." He mumbles and stares at the jar before giving his full attention to the adeptus.

"If you wish to meet me, speak my name. I do not care much for birthdays and celebrations, and I do not wish to be around large groups of people. To be able to spend some time with you is enough." He finishes off and changes his gaze to state off into the view behind Aether, secretly wishing that he feels the same.

"Oh Xiao I enjoy every moment we have together! I hope that you'll let me celebrate your birthday just the two of us." Aether's warm smile was all Xiao needed to see and engulfs him in a hug, a hug that would mean so much for the adeptus.

Everything suddenly felt like it would get better, the karma on his shoulders slightly lifting and he enjoys this fresh breath of air. Aether was someone that could take away any worries he holds and he wants to hold onto him for a lifetime if he lets him.

'With you I don't have to think about anything right now' He stares at how Aether was letting the crystalflies land on his hair, the glow illuminating his perfect features.

'As long as you're with me, I'm happy'

I think I'll be closing requests from today since I want to focus on what I have so far and I would like to write some of my ideas on my own so I hope that this request was enough hehe it's quite ironic since my birthday was yesterday (I was suppose to post this yesterday, but I fell asleep)

Even though this was technically for Xiao's birthday I feel like writing this just made me super soft because even though Xiao may seem edgy from his English VA the only thing he really does is protect us and Liyue from any danger. I just hope that people start to see him in a different light at times Ꮚˊ•⌔•ˋᏊ
