9. Unexpected Turn Of Events

Wait. So get me get this straight. I went from being a ladies' man, to becoming a hotel owner, then becoming Sam's emergency driver?

Yeah, that's about right.

Sam called me, asked if I was busy cause she needed a quick ride papuntang Ground Up.

It was a good thing I brought my Audi Q8 for this. Kasama si Amy kaya 'di sila kakasya do'n sa Lexus or sa BMW. Kaya pala wala sila sa Ground Up kanina, late pala sila.

"Neil, I really hate to ask, pero pwede pa bang bilisan natin?" Sam asked me nicely. "Pwede naman. Buckle up, guys." I told them.

Dad's gonna kill me after this.

I went as fast as I can, avoiding all the cars in the way, drifting and accelerating. Felt good as it felt back in my racing days.

After a few minutes, nakarating kami sa Ground Up and they immediately rushed inside after I parked. I saw them talking to someone. it looks like they're getting scolded.

I wanted to hear what they're talking about so I came in and walked towards the counter.

"Sir, sorry po! Na-late lang po kami ng gising kaya po kami na-late! Sorry po talaga!"

"Oo nga po Sir! 'Di na po mauulit!"

I was about to get their attention when somebody else got it first.

The person Sam and Amy was talking to looked at him and whispered something to them.

"Thank you po, Sir. 'Di na po talaga mauulit." Amy said and went inside. "Asikasuhin mo si Mr. Dacena and make sure na matutuwa s'ya sa'tin." Narinig kong sabi ng manager nila.

Pumunta si Sam sa bar counter and looked at me.

"I thought waitress ka lang?" I asked. "nagalit si Sir, so binigyan kami ng dagdag trabaho. Now I work as a cashier as well."

I just told her to get me a cup of coffee since nakakain na naman ako kanina.

I found a table near that 'Mr. Dacena' guy. I got my phone and played games while waiting for that coffee.

"Your order, Mr. Dacena." Narinig ko na sabi ni Sam na nakatayo hawak yung irder nung lalake sa kabilang table.

"You do know you have a solid grip on that tray, right?" Mr. Dacena said. She denied it and placed the tray on the table and walked away.

Maya maya pa'y dumating si Amy at binigay yung order ko. "May gagawin mamaya si Sam, pero sama ka sa'min mamaya if ever 'di ka busy. Let's catch up, Blue."

Blue.

Haven't heard that for a while. Ang dami nilang tinatawag sa'kin. Dex and my other friends call me 'Drei. My family and some other friends call me Andres. People call me by my Surname... but Blue, Amy was the only person to call me that. Ginawa niyang english yung Asul na pangalan ko.

And that's what we did after their shift ended. Sinundo ni Kyla si Sam and kami naman ni Amy may pinuntahan na mall. It was afternoon so we were waitin for the others to show up.

"'Di makakasama si Sam at Kyla, death anniversary ng parents nila." She said. Kaya pala.

"Malapit na yung simula ng school year ni Sam, diba? She mentioned anything about the course she's gonna be taking?" I asked While we were sitting on a bench inside the mall.

"Feeling ko kukunin na course ni Sam yung course na kinuha ni Kyla. Ang trabaho kasi na papasukan nila is yung sa family business nila." She explained. "What kind of business does her family own?"
