Roman pov

"His mother?!" I repeated in my head. This woman couldn't be a day over 20 if you had asked me. It was fascinating how much she looked like her son. They had the same chestnut brown hair, piercing dark eyes and a slender figure. I quickly gathered myself as I wanted to make a good first impression.
"I'm so glad to meet you ma'am." I said as I shook her hand. She gave a warm smile in response.
"The pleasure's all mine my dear. It's delightful to see my son is making friends with such lovely people." I blushed at the compliment. Virgil's mom seemed like such a nice person. My smile faltered when I saw his scared expression.
"I didn't think you would attend the Ball tonight mother."
"Oh I'm not! I was just checking out. You know how I hate being around too much people." She kissed Virgil on the cheek and waved us goodbye.
"See you soon my dear." As soon as she left, Virgil sighed and buried his face in his hands. Without thinking, I rushed to his side.
"Are you okay?" He took a deep breath, and looked up.
"Yeah, I'm good now. Let's go, the others must be waiting for us." He looked like nothing ever happened. I decided not to insist. I still gave his hand a squeeze as we headed outside.

3rd person pov

Roman was at the bar with Logan, both of them talking about their crush. Virgil and Patton already knew each other but not that well.
"So you're in love with my roommate and I'm in love with yours. Awesome innit?"
"It's isn't it not innit, and I guess." None of them could keep their eyes off of the two unaware boys. They were beyond lovestruck at this point. Roman got struck with a boost of confidence and rushed towards Virgil. He bowed to the now flustered florist.
"May I have this dance?" Roman asked, smiling at him. Needless to say, he was shocked but caught himself.
"That would be my pleasure sir." Roman lead him to the dance floor.
"I didn't know you could dance." Virgil said, getting in the position for a waltz. Roman realized something.
"... I can't" The anxious man laughed.
"I know. I was being sarcastic. Let me lead if you want." He let Virgil lead, resting his hand on his waist, Virgil putting one on his left shoulder and the other one was holding Roman's, lacing their fingers together. Virgil was around the same height as Roman, so it wasn't that awkward for him to be the leading one. The music started and they started slowly gliding across the ballroom.
"Hey you're not that bad Princey."
"And you look like you have a lot of experience Stormcloud." The world around them ceased to exist as they absent mindly melted into the other's touch.
"Say, V, about what happened in the room earlier..."
"The part where we were about to kiss or the scary part?"
"The part where we were about to kiss." Roman pulled Virgil closer. "I've been meaning to ask you..." The florist's curious face was lit up by the crystal shaped chandelier. He was so close he could feel Roman's heart hammer against his ribcage. "Actually, I would like to ask you this somewhere more private."

The two were now on the private beach of the palace. They took off their shoes, standing in the cold water.
"So what is it you wanted to ask?" Virgil asked. Roman hesitantly reached out to hold his hand. He got surprised but still let him.
"Virgil, I think you're an amazing person and I want to know more about you, spend time with you, be part of your life even if it's only for a while. What I want to say is that I love you and I would like to date you."
