Virgil was shocked by the sudden confession. He couldn't say he wasn't expecting it but not that soon. He thought after seeing him as a blood eating monster, Roman would back away for a bit... But he didn't.
"V-Virgil ?" He looked worried, since the other man was silent. Said man smiled as he squeezed Roman's hand back.
"I love you too Ro, and, I would love to date you." None of them said anything for a while, just looking into each other's eyes, as if lost in a dream. The silence was filled by the sound of small waves crashing down on the sand or onto their feet. This time, they were fully aware that they were leaning into the other. Their faces were inches away, both savoring this moment together, closing their eyes and... Virgil's phone rang making the two lovers jump.
"Ah damn it! Ugh... Sorry Ro, I need to take that."
"That's fine don't worry." Roman assured. The caller was Janus.
"Huh, he promised not to call me tonight unless there was an emergency, this must be serious." Virgil answered the phone
"Yeah Ja-"
"VIRGIL! I messed up, I messed up big! What do I do omg..." Janus' voice was shaking as if he were sobbing.
"Woah Woah Woah take a deep breath and explain what's going on please." The distressed vampire didn't and kept going on.
"A DEEP BREATH ISN'T GOING TO FIX WHAT'S HAPPENING!" Janus' voice cracked at the end and started to sob again. "It's Remus... We were at your house and we got attacked.. I'm fine but Rem... I couldn't watch him die." Virgil understood what was going on.
"We'll be on our way, hang tight." Virgil hung up and faced Roman again with a stern look on his face.
"I have bad news Roman...""REMUS!" Roman rushed in, knocking things over on his way. There was his brother on the couch, shirtless, exposing a long and deep cut traveling from his neck down to his chest. Virgil grabbed his brother by the shoulders and gently pried him away from the limp and pale form on the couch. It was surreal to Roman, seeing his brother like that schoked him.
"Roman, are you-" before Logan got to finish his sentence, Roman collapsed to his knees, a hand clapped over his open mouth. Virgil kneeled next to him and put a reassuring hand on his back.
"Ro, I'm gonna need you to leave the room. We need to complete some things for Remus' turning to be successful." his tone was soft and soothing, grounding the distressed man he was now holding.
"Is my brother going to be okay?" Roman asked in a voice not louder than a whisper.
"All I can promise you is that we'll do our best. But we got here soon enough so there's a good chance he'll make it..." Virgil led him to the kitchen, followed by Patton. The door closed behind him and Roman crashed down on one of the chairs.
"How are you holding up?" Patton asked, taking a seat next to his roommate.
"I'm fine, just a bit shaken that's all. What are they doing in here?"
"Some kind of ritual. It needs to have two old vampires and the vampire who turned the human for it to work. I'm too young and unexperienced for me to assist them. Now! Do you need something to drink Kiddo?"
"Nah thanks Padre, I'm not in the mood to drink." Roman waved the offer away.
"Okay, well, I'll warm up some blood for Virgil. He hasn't fed in a while if I remember correctly." Patton opened the fridge and gasped. The blood packets were torn to shreds, the inside of the fridge looking like a scene from a horror movie.
"Oh no! This isn't good."636 words
