Roman headed downstairs one morning to find Virgil on the couch staring down at a letter. He looked really upset.
"Morning Virge." He acted as if he didn't see anything at first.
"Morning Ro." Virgil smiled sweetly.
"What was that letter about?" Roman asked. The other man went pale. He silently handed the letter to his boyfriend. The latter gasped as he saw attached to the letter, pictures of them together kissing.

Dear Virgil.

I see you are very close with that "friend" of yours. I'm very sad to see you've kept such a huge thing from me. You know I never liked any of your human companions. All relationships you've had with one of them ended in sorrow and heartbreak. Still, I would like to get to know that mortal. See how long he'll last. Make sure you both come to my house this Sunday for lunch at 12.
Don't be late.

- A. Aldine

Roman was speechless when he realized that this was written by Virgil's mom. The words he read sent chills down his spine.
"She now knows where I live and one of my new weaknesses. I have no choice but to do as she says." Roman was still shocked but tried to be optimistic.
"Well what's the worst that could happen? Your mom could even come around to the idea of us dating." Virgil shook his head.
"Roman, look at this." He handed him a picture of them at the ball in their room where they were about to kiss. "That means that she is the one that sent someone to kill you when we got home but they found your twin instead! Does this give you the slightest idea of what could happen?!" Virgil let out a weary sigh. His boyfriend walked up next to him and held him by the shoulders.
"Whatever happens to us from here on in, I promise we'll get through it. Together." That brought out a smile from the emo.

Virgil stopped the car in front of a gigantic and old mansion. Roman gawked at the sight. They slowly walked up the stairs, the vampire under an umbrella. He quickly got inside and placed the umbrella in the entrance.
"Virgil?" A young sounding voice called out. They turned around to see a young woman walking up to them. Their face lit up as they recognized the man in front of her.
"It is you! My how you haven't changed one bit! I didn't expect you to come back so soon." She exclaimed. Virgil hugged her, smiling.
"Yeah me neither. Mom wanted to see me and my boyfriend." She looked behind him and grinned even wider if possible. "Quinn, meet my boyfriend Roman, he uses he/him pronouns. Roman, meet-" Before he could finish, Quinn pounced in front of Roman.
"Hi !! I'm Quinn it's so nice to finally meet you! I use she/they pronouns and I'm Virgil's older sister!" As she was saying this she was shaking the boy's hands so much he thought they would break his arm. Quinn didn't really look like Virgil. They had light brown curly hair that reached to the half of their back. Her face was round and her figure was more broad than Virgil's or Alicia's. Roman realized that he's never met his boyfriend's dad nor did he say anything about him. He did see a ring on Alicia's hand when he first met her and he assumed she was married.
"Well, we really got to hurry up. Could you stay nearby just in case I try to strangle you-know-who." She nodded and led them to the dining room.

Virgil and Alicia were glaring at each other from across the table. Quinn was stabbing her food with her fork looking between their mom and their brother. Roman held Virgil's hand under the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He sighed and started eating.
"Let's give this other with." He thought as he bit down.
"So Virgil... How much have you told that boy?" He froze.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I just want to know how much he knows about you. The real you I mean, the son I once knew."
"Don't." He warned, sitting at the edge of his seat.
"What? It is something this poor man needs to know about right?"
"Not now. He doesn't have to know yet."
"Why wait? He's not eternal you know. Are you planning on saying it on his deathbed or something?"
"Mother please!" The anger was slowly fading from his voice, becoming fear.
"Consider this my little payback for you keeping your relationship with that man a secret from me." Alicia crossed her arms but before she could say anything Roman pressed his hands to his ears and closed his eyes.
"If Virgil doesn't want me to know yet, then I don't have to."
She scoffed and sneered.
"What a loyal and kind man you've found there Virgil. Too bad I'll have to mess with him a little." Virgil got to his feet, his face distorted with fury.
"Lay one hand on my boyfriend and I'll make orphans of my siblings." Alicia was still smiling, ignoring his threat.
"There it is. You truly never change son. The madness that drove you to kill so many people is still there. I don't care what happens to me, as long as the knowledge that you're nothing but a pathetic puppet I used to murder my husband stays with you until you turn to ash." Roman opened his eyes when he felt a hand grab him by the shoulder. He looked up to see Virgil, mouthing the words
"Go to the car. Now."
