Being inspired

Stella's POV: it's been a couple weeks since my basket ball game that I brought was delivered to the apartment and ever since then me, and the boys have love having it here. We play it everyday that we are home and I am the one who always wins. It's also getting closer to the time I take the Lieutenant test, so Kelly and Matt have been helping me. Right now it's shift day and I am hanging up pictures by my bed and then standing back to look at them all

K= what's this
S= my own little wall of inspiration to help motivate me while I prep for the Lieutenant exam( start pointing to different pictures) this is my aunt Laverne always had my back growing up formidable woman, Pam Greer badass and kick ass , misty Copeland fierce, graceful, big community activist and uh Gloria hill the CFD's first and only female deputy commissioner she's a Legit rock star
K= very nice not one guy up there huh
S= well uncle ray I mean his us kind of hidden behind my aunt no one cuts in front of Laverne

Before I can keep talking a call came in for the whole firehouse. When we got the Landry mat I got paired with Casey and we started looking for someone near the dryers and out of no where the dryer blow up and knocked me the ground. Lucky it just knock the wind out of me. But I felt stupid that I didn't see that coming back at the firehouse I tell Brett about what happen back at the scene

S= right as I approached  the dryer boom like it was waiting for me
SB= oh you're lucky you didn't get hurt
S= uh speaking of ( grabs her hand )  what is that
SB= Vernoncat
S= ugh how's that going
SB= she is an angry animal
S= just take her to a shelter there are crazy cat people everywhere someone will adopt her
SB= yeah but I really don't think they should
V= hey there what bunk should I take
SB=  oh uh this one it's right next to me
V= okay
S= hey violet
V= hey
S= how's 20
V= it's good thanks it's a great house so

(A picture all of sudden fell down )

S= Pam oh I could have sworn that I secured thus that's weird

That was totally random that it fell down I don't think much about the my blow to the head at the fire and the photo falling. A couple hours later we get called to another Laundromat fire but before we got there I somehow hit a pole hole and the truck all of sudden lost control but I managed to get it under control just in time so I didn't hit the teenager that were on the street . Once we got us and the truck back I helped Matt check the truck over to see how bad the damage was to the wheel 

S= brakes looks good control arm is fine
MC= ( on the phone ) yeah everything else looks good we just need a new tire and that upper ball joint, okay let me know We'd love to get back in service. ( hangs up) they don't have the part in stock he's calling around to see what he can locate but we're out of action for a few hours at least
S= sorry caption I should had seen that pothole
MC= it was Full of water looked like a puddle dint beat yourself up
S= it's just one more thing that's gone wrong today are you thinking that there's a connection between these laundromat fire
MC= gonna get into that right now ( walks away)
SB= whoa what happened to the truck
S=Ugh thus I hit a pothole and I almost mowed down two teenagers
SB= what
S= yeah it's a miracle no one got hurt
V= you've had one crazy shift is it always like this
S= no no it's not
SB= hmm well good luck with the truck
S= yeah

Now that violet has said that it's been a crazy shift I am starting to believe it like it's never this crazy, when I get to my bed I notice all my photos are slashed and laying in my side table and I think o know why it's been crazy so I go and talk to Brett about it

SB= ( turns around and jumps ) oh Stella you scared me
S= you see this misty, Gloria ,Laverne all shattered Herman said they just dropped down while he was taking a nap
SB= mm that tape must not have ..,
S= I used that tape at home all the time works curb
SB= do you think  I did  something to them
S= of course not it's violet sorry to tell you this Brett but your temporary partner is a jinx
SB= what
S= my shift stared great all right I made out with Kelly in the car before we heard into the firehouse
SB= aww
S= I know right then came inside I had a nice cup of coffee my pictures go up everything's hunky dory and that's when violet arrives
SB= Stella we've worked with violet before and she's an amazing paramedic
S= I will admit that honestly I really like her but there are some people who create a certain kind of jinx-y energy and she is one of those people ( walks away)

It makes complete sense that it's only been this crazy since violet got here. A couple hours later I check on the truck to see if I can help it any way

HC= Kidd there's a big wig from CFD in the briefing room wants to talk to the driver of truck 81

When he said that I knew my fat was going to get a lot worse because it's never a good sign if they come to look for you. So I go and be prepared for the worst but when I walked in it was someone o looked up to

S= deputy commissioner hill
DCH= you're the driver of truck 81
S= I am
DCH= a video was circulating online that got send to my office truck 81 hitting a pothole and coming right at a couple of kids
S= the pothole was filled with water I didn't see it and after I hit it the rig started to ...
DCH= I can here to shake hands with the man that got control of that rig and saved those kids life bye it makes me very proud to know it was a woman and a woman of color at that ( reached her hand out )
S= I cannot tell how much that means coming from you I mean you're on my wall of inspiration which is unfortunately did fall drown and shatter but I'm gonna frame them just never mind about that just thank you deputy uh deputy commissioner

We talk for a few minutes and then after I walk her out so she can leave

K= was that
S= yeah we were just hanging out chilling she saw a video of me controlling the rig give me her card and said I could call her any time
K= you are something
S= I really am

I guess I was wrong about violet being a jinx because in the end of the day I go to meet a woman that I look up too. Now I am going to enjoy the rest of this shift

Authors note: I laugh when Stella was thinking that violet was a jinx but it turns out very good for her in the end she got to meet a woman she looks up to that works in the CFD. Kelly was so proud of her at the end. Also when Stella said she made out with Kelly before shift I was like I wish we could had seen that. And my apologies that this chapter is two weeks late and it's kind of short
