'Somebody like you'
Chapter 9:
(Dylan's POV)
She kissed me.
She finally opened up to me and returned the same feelings we had a year ago. Even after knowing the truth and meeting my family. She kissed me. We were in the car, her holding my left hand as I drove with my right. We just sat there listening to the music and making our way back to hers. I know she wouldn't do anything about Joe tonight, its a lot to take in and I understand but I want her to be mine and only mine. She knows that, she told me with her kiss. She broke my thoughts by breaking the silence, she looked over at me and carried on looking out the window to her left.
"I know it's a lot to take in," I said making it easier for her to open up to me which she took as an invitation to a party.
"You think" she whispered under her breath
"I can hear your little comments you know, I used to pretend I couldn't but I could" I explained
"I know," she said still looking away from me. I squeezed her hand to show I was there.
"I'll give you some time," I said which was painful to say
"Thank you," she said looking over at my direction before giving me a kiss on the cheek.
"But I won't give you forever, I want that with you and not you with him," I said looking straight ahead at the road hoping that would get her attention.
"I hope so," she said under her breath now knowing that I can hear. I let out a little grin as we were approaching her apartment. As I pulled up into the car park and shut down the car, I turned to her and kissed her quickly before pulling away.
"You're not coming in are you?" She asked as I opened the door allowing all the extra heat in the car to escape into wet and the cold.
"Well considering what happened last time you walked out on him, definitely," I said getting out the car, Ella following shortly after. I locked the car and threw the keys to her which she luckily caught. We didn't hold hands when we walked in, we walked side by side as we went to her apartment up the stairs. When we got to her apartment and she unlocked the door and opened it, all we saw was complete chaos and mess.
There were knives stabbed into the wall creating a pathway leading to the lounge. There was shattered glass and broken pottery on the floor. As we got closer into the apartment, the floors became more crowded with mess and destruction. I went ahead of her to have a look to see if he was in the lounge.
Walking in, I saw his body on the floor, a piece of glass had been stabbed where his heart was and blood had covered the floor around him. Ella walked in behind me and all I heard was a shocked scream. I brought her head to my chest to make sure she wasn't focused on the body on the floor.
"Oh my god." She commented as she cried into my shirt. I wanted to look around to see whether someone else was in the apartment so I let her go as she knelt next to his body and carried on my search. I saw a note that had been stabbed in the wall that was handwritten and messy:
'I have no control over myself, I'm trying to protect you.'
"He's-" She stuttered trying to tell me what I already knew. After looking around, it looked like the place was empty other than the body on the floor. Who would have done this? This definitely wasn't it's style so who? Seeing stuff like this doesn't bother me anymore, I've seen so much death in my life that this is like a drop of rain on a rainy day. It hurt me to see her go through this and see him dead.
"He's moving," She said making me turn sharply to him to review the dead man I saw before me. He looked like he was waking up, slowly like he was coming out of a dream. Ella started crawling back away from him.
"He's immortal," I spoke as I rushed to get in front of her to create some space between Joe and Ella to protect her. He stood up, pulling the glass out of his chest and throwing it in our direction. I pulled Ella down just in time as she breathed sharply in shock.
"You shouldn't have come back here with him." He spoke, his voice sounding deeper and more processed than before. He suddenly started charging at me, but when he reached me, my right hook pushed against his jaw pushing him on to the ground. I turned to Ella and saw her stood watching it all viewing the antics in shock.
"You need to run. You're not safe. Go," I said before going back to Joe and giving him a piece of my mind. I could hear her heals patter away as she ran for it. I didn't know where she was going but anywhere would be better than being here.
"What the?" Joe said as I pulled him up from the floor by his shirt against a wall. I stood him up so I could give him my worst but he stood up and shaking off the dirt off his jeans. What I didn't understand is that if he is immortal, how is he not weakened being around Ella? Where was he getting his energy to regenerate so fast from? I looked around and saw the mess and diverted our conversation to that.
"What the fuck is this?" I said pointing out the mess.
"I'm just making a point," He said looking up sadistically smiling.
"What would that point be?" I asked but before he could answer, I punched him square in the nose.
"She isn't apart of our world Dylan, she isn't safe as long as we're in the picture." He explained.
"So you thought to scare her off instead?" I quizzed confused by his thought process.
"A means to an end." He stated further confusing me even more.
"What?" I asked baffled that I was still letting him talk.
"She needs removing from the picture," He explained. I rolled my eyes before knocking him out and walking out of the apartment, closing the door behind me. If anyone needed removing, it was Joe from Ella's life.

Romance"I want you back," he said as I looked up from the ground. "Don't" I said trying to stop him, I didn't want to talk about us anymore. We were over and this connection wasn't helping us in any way, in fact, it just pulled us closer to each other. "No...
