'I never dreamed'
Chapter 6:
(Ella's POV)
He always spoke about his parents as if they were close but they had died. Now thinking about it, he never used to speak about his family that much. I knew he never liked to talk about his past but now knowing part of the reason, I felt sorry for him that he had to keep that secret from me. I was looking out the window deep in thought when he grabbed hold of my right hand, still driving. He left his hand locked on my lap but I moved our hands onto his so he could drive easier.
I looked over at him and he was focused on the road but he smiled when he saw from the corner of his eye that I was glancing at him. Even though just holding his hand was wrong, because I was in a relationship with another man, it felt so right. I smiled feeling a blush spread across my cheeks and looked straight ahead, noticing that we were heading into the forest on an off-road track.
"Are you sure you are going the right way? This is the forest, no one lives here" I said wondering if he was lost or forgot.
"Trust me, I know where I was brought up," he said reassuring me. We were driving in between the trees with no sign of road at all making me question how long they have hidden away here. Then in the far distance, A extremely modern and stylish white and glasshouse stood out in front of all of the trees.
"Well this is not what I expected," I said shocked. This house obviously meant that they had there a fair amount of money and time.
"What were you thinking? A cabin in the woods?" He asked jokingly. I couldn't help but smile at the beautiful view ahead, the tree's surrounding the building seemed to be far enough to not crowd the house but enough to blend into the forest. The three-story house had a glass balcony on its front and it's wooden features broke the floor and private rooms apart.
"It's beautiful," I commented when he came to a stop.
"Yes, you are" He whispered. I wasn't sure if I heard him right because it was so quiet.
"What?" I said hearing it but wanting him to say it louder and with more confidence. He caught a quick glimpse of my reaction before letting go of my hand and getting out of the car.
"It doesn't matter," he said brushing it off. I followed after him, feeling out of place and slightly intimidated. He darted around the car to me, turning to tell me something by stopping in front of me.
"Hold on, I need to warn you about something," He said making me close the door. I crossed my arms feeling anxious when he said the word 'warn'.
"Look, my mom struggles with the fact that your mortal, its nothing personal but I thought you should know in case she gives off a bad vibe" he explained. I shuffled where I stood feeling apprehensive. It was bad enough that they already had a variety of opinions of me being mortal but I had to keep on reminding myself that I'm in a relationship with another man, so this would be an uncomfortable meeting, to say the least.
"What about your dad?" I asked hoping he wouldn't be any worse.
"He didn't really express an opinion but I wouldn't go mentioning that I told you that we're who we are I'll bring it up," He explained.
"No immortal talk, Got it," I commented.
"You'll be fine," he said noticing I was nervous. He lent over and kissed me on the cheek. Why was I so nervous? I grinned
"I would never let you do something that you were uncomfortable with or something you couldn't handle," He said.
"I'll be okay." I smiled. We walked up a few steps to the front door and Dylan knocked lightly, taking a deep breath in as if he was nervous like me. I uncrossed my arms and took his hand, his head sharply turned to the electric feeling we got from our skin touching and smirked. A man in his 30's opened the door looking taken back by our being here.
"Dylan, still alive and kicking I see," He joked, opening the door to let us in. I closed the door behind me and followed Dylan up a couple of steps that led into a large open living space that had neutral tones with a hunters edge. The room was cream and beige with fur cushions and throws everywhere, old accessories that looked like they belonged in a museum. Everything was either white, glass, or wood with a cozy feel to the showroom of a house. I let his hand fall as I took in my surroundings.
"This is lovely, " I said completely lost for words.
"Thank you, it took just a few years for the perfection," He said winking at Dylan. As we sat down on the large white sofa, Dylan started speaking as I admired the view of the forest out of the glass window that replaced a wall.
"Where's mom?" He asked taking back hold of my hand which gave him my full attention, he rested our hands on his knee. I looked straight at his dad to not give away the guilt I was feeling. I wasn't feeling guilty enough to let his hand go but enough to know that holding his hand was wrong, even if it didn't feel it.
"Lisa!" He shouted making me jump a little, Dylan turned to giggle a little at me as I moved closer towards him. A woman appeared from behind a pillar looking around the same age as Dylan's dad.
"Dylan? What are you doing up here? and with someone?" She asked, coming across as blunt and discourteous.
"I'd like to introduce Ella," He spoke. His mom came to sit next to his dad as she looked me up and down, she looked objectively, making me feel inferior in some way. Why was I feeling intimidated?
"Hi," I said offering a handshake that she took with a fierce grip. She looked so young and pretty to have had Dylan and she reminded me of him. I learned that Dylan definitely looks like his parents. I looked towards Dylan and beamed.
"Nice to meet you" She replied smiling back.
"As lovely as this in prompt to drop in is, how come you've come round?" Lisa continued. Lisa seemed tense and uncomfortable by me being here whereas Dylan's dad seemed to laid back and relaxed.
"She knows," Dylan stated. Lisa and his dad both looked at each other, his dad suddenly becoming more alert as I half-heartedly smiled knowing this was about to go from awkward to distressing.

Romance"I want you back," he said as I looked up from the ground. "Don't" I said trying to stop him, I didn't want to talk about us anymore. We were over and this connection wasn't helping us in any way, in fact, it just pulled us closer to each other. "No...
