'To make me dream of you'

Chapter 21:

(Dylan's POV)

I woke up this morning remembering that today was Teddy Divers funeral. After all these years of threats, I genuinely thought he would out live me and attempt to kill me. But I guess you get to certain age and the most important thing you need to do is stay alive when you go to sleep. For Teddy, at 98 years old, that task became too difficult for his heart. Because I'm immortal, death isn't a thing i usually worry about but when I heard about Teddy from his daughter Lucy one day out of the blue, I felt obligated to attend. I knew though why Lucy called, the thing with her was I was dating her when I originally met Ella. I already thought I had the one but after meeting Ella, I knew that I wasn't with Lucy for the right reason and I left.

So when I saw Ella get jealous over her, I couldn't help but laugh. I drove to the funeral a little reluctant to go knowing that co-operations in business from around the world would be there as well as a dew criminals wanting to grant any dying wish that Teddy might have had. Granted, we left on good terms even after breaking up with his daughter but that was in exchanged of a drop of my blood. Of course, that never happened. Once i got there, i parked in car park and walked in. I could see his members outside offering greetings and condolences.

"I'm sorry to hear about his death, he was a cleaver man with a great life" I said to one of the balding men who accepted the hand shake i was offering.

"Teddy always said he had a future, i guess he was clever to see it" he said before letting go of my hand.

"Dylan!" A familiar voice screeched in joy in such a depressing scenery appearing from inside the building. I turned and saw a extremely stick thin, bleached blonde bobbed hair, tanned wearing a black mini dress, pointy high heels and cherry red lipstick which made her stick out like a saw thumb; run up to me and then jump onto me giving me a tight hug. Who would have known that she was 37 to look at her. Luckily because i saw her coming, i could keep my balance but i accidentally raised her from the air, giving her wrong impression. I put her down feeling uncomfortable.

"You came" she said sounding happier than she should

"Yeah, are you okay? aren't you meant to be crying?" i asked a little confused about her whole persona to this event : her father's funeral.

"We all know that daddy was a bad man" she said poking my chest sounding like a teenager even though she was 37.

"Okay" i said trying hard not laugh at her reaction.

"So why has it been so long do do?" she asked. I hated the nickname she gave me when she first gave it me and nothing has changed

"I've just been busy, you've changed" i mentioned. She used to be brunette and wear these massive black glasses which would fill her face. I thought they were cute but she thought otherwise.

"Do you think it's hot?" she asked not even bothering to whisper. One of the many balding men turned around and looked her up and down.

"You look very nice" I said trying to be as polite as possible but really wanting to run out of here as quick as possible. There was this loud thump from the mic and a deep voiced man spoke

"Could all visitors take your seats as the ceremony will start in two minutes" A man said. I looked at Lucy and she huffed like a little child.

"Fine, Dylan let's go" she said grabbing my arms and hooking hers with mine. We walked into the room which looked the same length as a football field.

"Were at the front" She whispered as we walked

"Are you sure? i'm okay with sitting over there" i said pointing at some empty seats in the middle but she pulled me to the front

"No silly, your gonna be with me" she said as we approached the front. We sat down and i tried to keep a suitable amount of distance so it wouldn't look like we're dating but close enough to be friends.

"Do do" she moaned sliding closer towards me so we were skin to skin. I felt so uncomfortable with her this close, all i could think of her as was a child i had to babysit. I watched as a man stood at the front and started with the ceremony:

"Today is a tragic day ..."

After 6 hours of slow torture listening to speeches, Lucy feeling up my leg and the endless amount of choir song's being sung drained me. Me and Lucy were outside and she was telling me something about her shopping trip which i tried to ignore. I looked at my phone and i had 64 missed calls, 33 voicemail's and 27 messages all from Ella.

"But Claudia said my Gucci was cheap and i said her Milan scarf was the equivalent as a high street buy but she was like -" she moaned as i interrupted her

"I'm so sorry but i need to go to the gents" I said and she smiled with a devious smile.

"I'll show you where they are" she smiled which made me worry. I looked through the messages and this was when i knew it wasn't a check in:

'Joe's got me, i can't get out and I've tried to call you but you didn't answer, please pick up'

'Answer me please'

'Your battery must be dead, just call me when you see these'

'Answer'

'I know where i am : i'm at my old old apartment'

'Dylan! answer the phone please'

I looked in front me and Lucy had stopped before walking in the gents and smiled.

"Need any help in there?" she asked with a devilish grin

"I'm good thanks" i said before walking in and completely friend zoning her. When i got in there, i called Ella straight away and she picked up after the second dial.

"Dylan! Dylan!" she shouted down the phone

"Ella!" I said trying to get her attention back

"It's Joe, he said he's going to make me immortal, please come quick" she said crying through the phone.

"Calm down, i'll be there as soon as i can" i stated

"Hurry!" she shouted before i hung up and ran out of the bathroom. I ran past Lucy who was calling after me

"Do do!" she shouted now looking genuinely upset for the first time today but i ignored her and ran to the car. I got in quickly and drove to her old old apartment which was coincidentally around the corner.
