'The world is on fire'
Chapter 43:
(Dylan's POV)
I laid with Ella lying asleep over me with our bodies intertwined when I heard it, I could hear another heartbeat. The heartbeat was faster than usual, like someone was frightened or struggling. I slid out from underneath her to look around the house to see who was here. I put on some boxers and a top before I started searching but as I looked around every room, there was no one in sight. I looked behind curtains, corners, even cupboards and hidden spaces where anyone could hide. I decided to expand my search not understanding where this other person was hiding, but whoever they are they're really good at playing hide and seek. But as I ran around the house, even turning direction just in case as well as looking out into the woods, there was nothing, no one.
"Dylan?" I heard Ella call from above me on the balcony looking down.
"What are you doing?" She asked laughing at me. She was covered by the bed sheets and glowing.
"I thought I heard someone out here." I replied looking up to her as she put a piece of hair behind her ear. She turned to go back into the house as I went back in as well. Who was I hearing if no one was here?
"It's good that we're up and about now, we need to get going for that ball." She shouted from the other room as I made my way to the bedroom.
"I still vote on not going." I stated as I walked in the room to see her looking through the wardrobe, her body looking tantalising and my eyes completely focused on her. I watched as she scanned through the clothes as I slid my arms around her waist placing kissed on her neck, my touch sliding up and down her body making her head role.
"Come on Dylan you just got back, your parents are really looking forward to seeing you." She stated trying to ignore me, but I decided to place my kisses on her shoulders, travelling to the other side of the neck.
"Well i'm not in the mood to have family reunion. I'd rather be here with you alone." I managed to say in between as I felt her body tighten as her restraint became looser. Her hands slipped into my hair and her other hand intertwined with mine as I pushed my body to her back not wanting to let her go. She leaned her neck so I could further the kiss, but as she was about to turn around, she let me go and placed her hands on my chest to separate us.
"As tempting as that is, I've already said we're going." She muttered as I kissed her temple.
"We can be late." I commented letting her go. She momentarily lent in and rested a kiss on my lips before turning around back to the wardrobe.
"Get dressed, we're going dancing." She said, her voice sounding soft and happy. I'm glad that our separation didn't loose anything between us, I could still feel the connection I felt when I first met her, I was so grateful that never left us. I curved past her to grab my suit from the wardrobe and pulled out a suit.
"So is it a dressy kind of event or a smart do?" She asked distracted as I pulled the box out of suit jacket. I opened the box to see if the ring was still there and when I found the diamond glowing back at me, I quickly hid it away when I heard Ella call out to me, pulling me away from my distraction.
"Do you think this works for tonight?" She asked pulling a dress to her figure. I smiled and turned around trying to hide the box in the suit.
"Yeah that's nice." I replied grabbing my suit as I faced her flushed expression.

We were finally at this stupid, annoying, idiotic immortality ball my mom hosts every year and to be honest I really didn't want to be here. I had plans for tonight and this wasn't one of them. I led her into the room that was filled with little lights and music that was pleasing to the ears. There were people dancing on the main floor with tables around them, with some people sat on them, other just standing.
I glanced at Ella who was completely smitten with the whole atmosphere, taken in by her surroundings. I slipped my hand and intertwined it with hers, gaining her attention. I stole a kiss quickly before I heard my mom squeal. We tared our lips away from each others as we looked towards her running towards us. She hugged me tightly without giving me a chance to be prepared.
"Dylan I'm so happy you're back." She said letting me go.
"It's good to be back." I replied feeling a little awkward. The last time I saw her I said some pretty bad things, things I'll still stick by but we didn't sort those issues out and tonight wasn't the night for that.
"Ella it's nice to see you again, you look stunning." She turned to Ella embracing her in a hug as well as my dad joined us.
"Hey son." He said pulling me in for a man hug which I accepted.
"Thanks, You too Lisa." Ella replied as I replied to my dad.
"Hey." I commented as we separated. I took a hold of Ella's hand again, making her lean her head on my shoulder.
"You both look like you had a good time away." Dad spoke before taking a sip of his drink.
"We did, it's good to be back though." I stated. I decided when the music changed to a song that I could dance too, I thought I would take her out to the dance floor.
"If you would excuse us." I said before my parents began in a conversation not wanting to miss the song. Ella looked up confused at me as I led her out to the centre stage of the floor. She stood there awkwardly until I reached out my hands, to which she accepted, beginning our slow dance of the night.

Romance"I want you back," he said as I looked up from the ground. "Don't" I said trying to stop him, I didn't want to talk about us anymore. We were over and this connection wasn't helping us in any way, in fact, it just pulled us closer to each other. "No...
